Positives:
Actually surprised at the volume of new signings, even if we're short in some areas.
Guedes and Silva have gone
JSL still here (for now!) and we've actually got another decent looking forward in
Lopez looks good
Arias has some talent
Negatives:
Incredibly threadbare in key areas
On the surface, some proper downgrades on key departures
Most of the existing squad nowhere near the required level
The club have done one of two things:
1. Some genius scouting and recruitment of little known players who they can then move on for more of that lovely profit in 12-18 months
2. Tried to penny pinch by signing players not used to this league/not good enough for this league/both for less money than we've actually made in player sales and just hope they work out
Let's be honest, it's not going to be number 1, is it? I'm not writing any of the new lads off at such an early stage but it's an incredibly risky strategy yet again.
And as many people on here have stated several times, eventually that risk isn't going to work, and with a dearth of quality or discipline or leadership in the dressing room amongst the existing members of the squad, this could be the time when mismanagement finally bites us on the arse.
The midfield is a huge concern numbers wise - and every other area of the pitch is a concern quality wise.
If these new guys don't make a very quick positive impression, we're fucked.
Happy days.
