The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

It wouldn't surprise me if Pereira thinks that if he can get £40m for RAN, then he could buy someone who doesn't take so many risks on the ball in his own defensive third. Yes you'd lose a bit of unpredictability going forwards but who knows how someone else would do at LWB.

Here's how it looks to me.

Sell for good money:
Cunha - £62.5m
RAN - £40m

Out of contract and will leave:
Semedo
Sarabia
Dawson
Forbs

Get rid ASAP:
Guedes
Johnstone

Sell if we get a reasonable bid:
Silva
Doyle
Hwang
Kalajdzic
Bueno

Do everything we can to keep:
J.Gomes
Andre

If we sold Cunha and RAN then that is £100m+ in the kitty which would be needed to help fund several purchases that we need:

RB
LB
DC
DM
AM x 2 (or maybe even 3)

Maybe even a backup out and out striker. That's 6 or 7 players just to rebuild the squad. If Silva/Doyle/Hwang/Sasa could fetch £40-50m between them then that would be a big help to fund it all. It's a hell of a job they have on this summer to reorganise a massive chunk of the squad that's for sure. Is Hobbs et al up to it?

We made a profit over the last 4 windows (combined) too didn't we?
Around £62m profit, yes. But that's if you don't count the near £100m net spend in 22/23.

23/24 - £74m spent, £143m gain - £69m net transfer profit
24/25 - £104m spent, £97m gain - £7m net transfer spend

We also posted accounts losses for those two seasons. How much of that counts for PSR muddies the waters but we should have a decent amount to spend this summer.

We might get in the region of £100m for Cunha and RAN, we would not spend £100m in return.

We won't be able to give Guedes away and while Sasa is a good player, no-one is signing him after 18 months out with his third ACL. All drains on the wage bill.

If we don’t keep Semedo (which is looking more and more likely) I really hope we don’t sell RAN.

We need another season out of him.

Replacing three of our best players with anything like similar quality is a massive ask.

Unless Uncle George is in pole position again and not Matt Hobbs.

Bear is more than happy to sell players that he very rarely sees play in the flesh... like others have said, I don't support Bank Balance FC!

I'm not adverse to developing and selling on players for a profit, but I don't want to keep hearing from those with so little investment in WWFC wangin on about net profits!

RAN is a defensive liability. Pereira might be under the impression he can buy a better defender who can still contribute going forwards.

Plus we really need to sell another player to fund an entire squad rebuild. As Quirk says I'd much rather that be RAN than Andre or J. Gomes.

talkSPORT understands that Matheus Cunha has agreed personal terms to join Manchester United.

The Brazilian international has agreed on a five-year deal.

The versatile forward is also set to take Marcus Rashford's number ten shirt, suggesting his time at Old Trafford is done.

The striker has a £62.5 million release clause in his Wolves contract, and the move is expected to progress rapidly
