The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I think if you're looking for any kind of transparency here you'll be disappointed. They probably won't even announce anything officially.
Percy thinks it will be announced soon.

There's no chance we're loaning Mosquera out.

Yeah that rumour surprised me, I think he’s perfect for the system Vitor wants to play.

I think we will announce it officially..already set the groundwork with letting their key media contacts know.

The devil will be in the level of detail they release, which I guess will be be sparse or hugely AI generated to hit a decent word count.

The Gestifute link is all well and good - but we still need some homegrown players. Who's going to be looking after that criteria now Hobbs is off (confirmed by Percy this morning that his contract has been "mutually cancelled") - Jackson?
Jackson will now doubt be in charge of that area as by the sounds of it we are slightly upgrading his football development role but not pushing him to far up like we did with Hobbs.

From that list, if there's any truth in Yerson going out on loan to prove his fitness (which I wouldn't do, btw - the lad should be back here and playing alongside Agba & Toti as our back three) - I can see us going for Bright Arrey-Mbi.

Hasn't shown anything at Braga to suggest he's ready to step up

It doesn't make sense.

1) If we had concerns about his fitness/injury, we wouldn't have handed him a 5 year deal when he was still out for months

2) Who even loans out players to "prove their fitness", we're into the realm of convoluted swap deals and bidding wars here

3) He'd walk into our team if he's anywhere near the level he was before the injury, we don't currently have a proper RCH (Doc did far better than expected but he's the equivalent of your fridge breaking in November so you'll leave your chilled goods outside the back door in a carrier bag for now. Yeah fine, but that isn't a great solution and there's a point looming where it becomes a very bad idea. You wouldn't refuse to buy a new fridge)

I'm totally stealing that analogy and shoehorning it in anywhere I can

What did Pedro Malheiro look like at Boavista? I'm guessing not good enough since he moved to Trabsonspor and not someone better, but he was still quite young. Exactly the sort of profile we need at RWB, someone who can pass and dribble, and he's had a decent attacking output in Turkey (6 goals, 5 assists).

Though ultimately I'm guessing Rodrigo Gomes is the same profile.

Everyone looked rubbish at Boavista. I've heard of the name but I can't say I've watched any Boavista games lately, they're not fun to watch.

Their chairman sacrificed a goat on the pitch this season to try to use blood magic to stop them getting relegated. It didn't work.

This might be our most important summer since 2018. Neither Cunha nor RAN is easily replaced, yet if we fail to improve the 1st 11 Vitor may be gone by this time next year.

Cunha was one of a kind and I don't see how we can find a like for like replacement - someone good enough to play for a top 6 club, who will score and create enough goals to frighten opposition defences, and who is within our budget. RAN is not an ordinary LWB - or City would not be chasing him. His languid style belies an above average defender with excellent ball control.

Add in RCB, RWB, right sided forward, backups for midfield and striker, and there is a lot of work to be done. More work than Jeff would usually allow - even with 100 million from sales. But if Guo really is willing to invest, and with a more competent senior management team, improvement is definitely possible.

If Vitor and Teti are aligned with Uncle Jorge and the cheque book opens wide enough, then it could be the start of a concerted push for European football. Power struggles or disagreements over recruitment, and relegation beckons.

Sorry for a long post. Basically, like everyone else, I am excited for what could happen, but also nervous because it usually does not.

Hopefully we can find a decent loan move for him.

Something we've been poor at in recent seasons, is finding good loan moves for young players. Hopefully that changes with the restructuring.
