The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

FabRom saying it’s practically done & LL saying they haven’t even contacted Wolves yet… so someone is misinformed.

Although, is it possible they’ve spoken directly to Cunha & his representatives to get the green light before they contact the club? I assume as he’s under contract they’d have to notify Wolves first, surely?

No one is.

Utd are sorting out everything with player and when that is done they will contact the club, likely after the season is done and also the way they want to buy him may change after Wednesday.
Expect it to be a simple match our pre agreed terms if they win. Lose they may enter talks with us but we have it in the contract that if that is needed, we can raise the price.

Technically yes, in reality not really.

And there's no real discussion to be had with Wolves anyway. You either pay it or you don't.

Unless there's something like what United are supposed to be proposing where they want to pay less up front but more overall. We'd be under no pressure to accept that if it didn't suit us.

Yep.

I suppose it's different because there is a release clause.

But I hate that this is how it works now, just feels wrong

The difference here is the release clause. That makes any "negotiation" with us pretty straightforward. The harder / more time-consuming part is the player negotiation. Man Utd wanted to get that part done before someone else comes along as soon as the window opens and hits us with an offer that triggers the release clause, potentially undermining things with them.

Cheers for the above.

In other news, I’ve seen someone post on social media to say Semedo had a couple of Portuguese removal vans parked outside his house today. Getting ready for a move back home or more social media bollocks? I guess time will tell!

Maybe Joao Felix is moving in?

Someone replied it may be the same removal men that have been outside Jose Sa's house the past 2 summers!

The most recent post from the Athletic (on the red filth being in for Delap) is that the fee for Cunha is payable in three installments over three years.

"United are yet to approach Wolves directly about payment terms on Cunha’s £62.5m release clause, but there is an expectation this stage would be a relative formality. Wolves are open to accepting instalments. The agreement built into Cunha’s contract outlines that the fee is to be paid in three instalments — the first chunk on signing, then two equal shares over the next two years — but it remains to be seen if United try to negotiate more favourable terms."

Thank feck we have fans like him on social
Media informing us of the latest inside info. I’d have never have guessed that with 6 days of the season left, a player who is out of contract looks set to leave the club.
I bet Carragher will have him first up on the overlap fan debate this week to break the news.

Losing a quality player, who evidently appears to have been a good captain, is never a good thing as such.

But, him staying does potentially put a bit of a block in the way of progression for R Gomes......... so i am a little bit torn on it.
I do have a feeling we will miss a senior member of the squad and associated leadership more than ability on the pitch.

Big miss but somehow I am slightly more confident in how we will deal with him going with Vitor in charge.

Utter blind faith i know.

There has been quite a lot of chat about him potentially signing a new contract hasn't there? So it's a story that he isn't?

I don't understand the angst?

Velez have rejected a bid of £4m + 30% sell on clause from Wolves for Thiago Silvero 🇦🇷
