The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

If Amorim isn’t a total fraud then they don’t need that much.

I don’t rate a lot of their players but they aren’t bottom half fodder. Should certainly be capable of competing in the top 8 with no Europe.

Cunha and Fernandes as 10s is as good as anything in the league. Højlund looks awful at the minute but didn’t have too bad a year last year and with those two behind they only need 6/10 from him to be functional. If Mount can stay fit then he’s a good option there as a sub.

Maguire, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui, Yoro. Plenty to work with a CB. What are they going to do with Diallo? WB? Shaw probably won’t stay fit on the opposite flank but surely Dorgu will improve and I haven’t seen much of him to form an opinion. Dalot fine as utility.

Ugarte was his man at Sporting. Mainoo? Casemiro might be finished but fine as a squad option, they certainly aren’t going to be able to get rid of him.

Obviously all dependent on Amorim. If he’s just another Bruno Lage then it won’t matter who he has. But if he is actually a good manager then they’re not that that far off and a top striker if Hojlund insnt the man will wee them easily in the top 8 mix

Older I get the less interested I get in other teams. I’m basically up for thinking about Man Utd for the first line of that (doubtless well informed!) post then I pretty much have no idea or interest in who plays for them or what they do.

Just my opinion tbh, isn’t neccesairily accurate!

Just all this “why is Cunha going to Utd”, “haha lolz Utd are going to get relegated” is all a bit tedious.

He’s going there because we want him to leave, no one else appears to want him and why would anyone want to stay at Wolves. I mean I don’t even want to stay at wolves (didn’t buy a STH) and I don’t have people offering me loads of money to go somewhere else etc. and all the other benefits of playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

They have overpaid, underperforming players and a clear mentality issue. Fix that and they are instantly better without any investment. Gary O’Neil and Bruno Lage had us in top half conversations with some absolute tat FFS!

Chelsea are up there and they are bang average. Forest’s wheels are already coming off and they’re not even in Europe yet.

Man Utd will be up there next year and if they aren’t then Amorim gets the sack in September and then someone else comes in and does it instead.

Not getting anywhere with that goalkeeper, he is fucking wank.

I don't think Amorim is turning this round to any significant degree, the pressure is hardly going to decrease. Job's too big for him.

Garnacho and Mainoo will move on I suspect for the PSR shit. Good luck with them moving on Rashford, can't see anybody with his form paying him 300k a week, he's not shifting on that salary either. As for Cunha they are doing it the wrong way, they need more then a number 10, the team from top too bottom stinks, goalkeeper needs replacing, a few across the back, the midfield is awful, Casemiro finished a few years back, Bruno probably heading to Saudi don't let the form of Diallo fool you he's not a top Premier League player. And lets not talk about the fucking awaful centre forward they have. So yes lets buy Cunha that will fix everything.

The one thing that makes sense with Cunha. He is top 10 with goal involvements in the Prem the last two seasons and could improve still. He is a smarter signing at 'only' 62m than nearly all the other players they have signed for more money.

Inter got to the CL final with him. City have won everything with a keeper who never makes a save.

I do think part of City's issues this year have been caused by the drop off in the games Ortega has played though. There is a stark difference between him and Ederson I feel.

It doesn't make much sense for Utd either if the rumoured £100m transfer budget is accurate. They need a lot more than Cunha plus 1 to make Amorim's system work, especially with him being so inflexible
Is the budget for upfront payments rather than installments though? That could be the only thing where it doesn’t apply

they have £152m in instalment payments due in six weeks. A lot of which is for absolute tat ten haag bought.

you would hope they would have learned that going beyond the budget on tick might not be smart EVERY summer, and Brexit Jim doesn't like paying for shit things.

the Cunha deal may well be done that way but the £100m won't be extended by it on his watch

No I get that. What I meant was though as you’ve just said about the on tick.

I don’t know what the installment plan is with Cunha, but say it’s 40m upfront and the rest over 2 years then it’s less of a problem.

With the money on tick, as well, they don’t stand to make much if any in profit on any of there recents signing is PSR form.

United aren’t going skint. It’s more getting round the PSR confinements

Cunha's ego is big enough to believe he's the one to get man utd back challenging in the top 6.
Given how he was the main factor giving us a hope of staying up, it's not impossible.

No one player can turn them around IMV. That squad fits Amorím like a tuxedo fits a gorilla.

I still can’t believe that he wants to go to Man Utd.

Prestige aside, they’re on their knees - football wise they’ve never been further from top honours.

They’re skint too. Maybe proper skint if Tory Jim is to be believed.

Amorim is a disaster. Exactly the same as GON. Another Emperors New Clothes. He is utterly out of his depth, a panic appointment with no real previous history suggesting he warrants such a big job. They’re going nowhere with him.

Maybe no one else wanted him? Maybe the temperament has more bearing with top sides than just his raw talent?

Either way, I just think it’s going to be an absolutely shit move for him. Short term, at least.

He won't care. He'll get more media attention and Brazil caps off playing for them then at probably any other club in England.

He probably knew United about 20 years before learning we existed.
