The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

We should have offered him a contract in January, the issue would have been resolved by now one way or another if we had.
Why would he have accepted it in January but not now? It looks pretty clear we’d like him to re-sign but we can’t force him to.

you’re a prick, who is never wrong no matter how many times you get told you’re wrong, you carry on being a prick.

You did ask.
Absolutely no need for that, my friend.

Also, no one has said Semedo not signing his contract is the "biggest issue". A couple of people (myself included), have said it's a stupid situation to have got ourselves in and it should have been sorted by now - which is more than fair.

I really, REALLY hope we get some concrete stuff on new incoming players this week - for the sanity of everyone on here!

I’ve took the post down.
He still is though.

Regarding semedo. January we could’ve been going down so likely a deal wasn’t offered then, as 1. He wouldn’t want to play in champ. 2. We couldn’t afford his wages, even if he did.

We have since offered him a contract, he is assessing all options. Nothing wrong with that on his part.

The only thing as a club I would’ve done is given a deadline for it, for start of pre season training, for example. We can’t just be sat waiting, and ultimately he needs to make a decision. For all we know, the club have set a deadline, we don’t know.

A captain is Ofcourse important, although it depends who’s in the squad and having good ‘senior pros’ etc. however it doesn’t need to be confirmed by 7th July, there is plenty of time.

It’s a worry, however the lack of incomings is a worry, end of, not just the semedo situation.

We’ve sold 2 of our main players, let Sarabia a squad player go, and Doyle who again a squad player, albeit really just a body in the end go, and replaced them with 1 incoming who none of us really know what he’s like, albeit we’ve heard good things.

If we'd offered him a deal in January with a deadline on agreement we could have moved on by now.

Instead we offered him a deal in March and presumably because of the late offer, we have allowed it to be strung out.

Also, no reason we couldn't have offered him a deal stating that "if we stay up" but we didn’t, we have let it drag on to the start of pre season.

We could have offered in January with a relegation clause, no?
Edit: EP said this, my reading comprehension is shit.

Either way, if he leaves it will feel like a very stupid mistake, unless he was demanding 4+ years and a raise.

Nah, we've allowed it to be strung out "out of respect for Nelson".

We really are a clown shop sometimes 😂

That is a bit of a leap for me Jinks. The cause of the clown shop has been binned. Thats something i suppose.

I would be very surprised if a commercial offer does not contain a longstop date. We've no evidence that it doesn't contain a longstop date, so I have no idea why we're talking about it. For five pages.

Just whinging into the void when we all agree that we want to sign some players is so tedious, and it genuinely gets my hopes up when I see this thread move on by multiple pages only to find the same tedium at play.

Is it that outrageous, though? There could be a number of variables at play for Nélson beyond just contract terms. Maybe he’d like to be closer to home? Maybe after Diogo’s passing he feels he’d be uncomfortable at Molineux?

It’s obviously not convenient for the club but there’s nothing wrong with him not being certain of his next steps yet.

Well, I tried.

Whilst I get what you guys are saying, he would hardly of agreed at that time. He signs and says yeah, cool, and we get relegated last day of season, he can really only then start talking to clubs, so boxes himself into a corner, so to speak.

Deal should’ve been offered when we were basically safe, and told ‘we need to know by X date’

He hasn’t signed yet, he also hadn’t signed anywhere else, which makes me think

1. There hasn’t been an offer elsewhere to his liking
2. He is expecting a more appealing offer to come in.

We don’t know what discussions are ongoing between him and the club, but if he rocks up late July signing a new deal, missing 3 weeks of pre season in the process, we will look like absolute plonkers

Playing devils advocate here, but why was Ince seen as a bad guy for stringing us along, but Semedo isn't?

Is it because it's July? Might that change in a few days or a week?

The Jota tragedy would only have been in play the last 5 days. I would imagine he was clearly having doubts/assessing options before Diogo’s passing

I mean, apples and oranges. It’s been 20 years since ince played for us

He is able to talk to anyone since January though and hes known since April 20th that we aren't going down.
