The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Obviously we can only comment on what we’re reading online and 99% of it is likely bullshit (but where’s the fun in not discussing it?!).

We seem to lowball with our offers to clubs - and now we’re seemingly paying less as a PL club than a Brazilian top flight club. And for a key target.

It’s not a great look.

But yeah, in the cold light of day, fuck knows what’s true. I won’t let that stop me from slating Jeff, though. The prick.
Discuss yes but I just can't get my head around it being a bad thing if true.

If we have opened our talks with an offer he is happy with, then that is what matters isn't it. Infact keeps wages free for those that won't be like that.

Jeff is a prick but if he has helped get a Vitor target in at a great price, then he can have 10 mins off being called a prick for me.

Still think the wage thing will be bollocks though.

All good and it's just another opportunity for you to have a go at the club when basically you know fuck all about the transaction.
Well you know fuck all about every transaction we do too, so perhaps you should refrain from commenting?

This place is going to get very boring very quickly, then.

Before losing our shit about wages it would be rather useful to know what he's currently on
Already noted in a previous comment that the highest reported weekly salary anywhere online for him is £45k per week. If he’s one of our top targets (and he appears to be), then it’s pretty shocking stuff if we’re offering him less and expecting him to take a pay cut.

Why? People get hired on lower salaries all the time.

No, still can't my head around that.

If he is willing to take a pay cut...then fair fucking play to all involved.

Its only shocking if we offered him less, he said no and we said take it or leave it.
As we all know, personal terms are generally agreed before transfer bids go in these days, so if he is happy, there isn't a thing that is shocking for me.

It doesn't even strike you as unusual or noteworthy? I think it's exceedingly odd tbh, and it may not have cost us this time, but who knows what it's cost us if lowballing is a frequent strategy

Most if not all clubs will low ball though. Man City tried it on RAN 👀

Still think the report/rumour is bollocks though

Id put a fairly large chunk of my life savings on us paying him more than 45k per week

I mean, I’d imagine the club will be partially led by the players agent saying he wants X per week, then they agree or more than likely negotiate.

If we get a top target, for a decent fee, and as low a wage as possible, then bravo to all involved.

Who knows, it may be subsidised by a signing on fee, goal bonus etc. who knows.

Plenty of other things we can moan about if we wish, this doesn’t seem high on the list
