The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed that and great to get some proper insight from the actual Fluminense side.

One thing that hasn’t been spoken about much, which is a slight concern. Burnout? He’s not really had a break. I didn’t realise until watching that video quite how much football he’s played. Then in to the club World Cup and straight back to it last night. The poor lads not had a break and it’s a long old season over here which he’ll be going straight into. We’ll obviously be leaning on him heavily and playing him all the time where possible. Hope he doesn’t break down post January cos he’s been overused.

Vitor interview with Lusa:

"We need reinforcements, we need to be competitive. My ambition is to be in the middle of the table and not always worry about the bottom places. It's to look upwards. But right now we've lost Cunha, we've lost Aït-Nouri, two very important players for us.”

“I want to prepare a team to start the league competitively, but at the moment it hasn't been possible. I hope there will be news in the next few days about bringing in people to increase the quality of the squad.”

On the one hand it's alarming to hear your manager speak like that, especially given what has happened before.

On the other we know Arias is coming and we're close to Pubill at the very least.

Considering Fosun & Jeff have gone all in with Vitor, I'm absolutely delighted to see him going in double-footed on them in public. Their performance (or lack of) this summer in terms of strengthening the first team squad has, as of RIGHT NOW, been pathetic.

There's absolutely no way they sack him for speaking his mind in public now that they've put all their eggs in the Vitor basket, so he very much holds the cards now and it's time for Fosun and Jeff to get on with their side of the process by strengthening the squad.

Let's not pull any punches here. If Vitor doesn't get what he needs to do the job here properly, there will be plenty of suitors for him. Would be a shame to bin everything off that he's worked so hard to achieve in a short space of time here, but I wouldn't blame him in the slightest if Jeff Shi cannot learn his fucking lesson.

I don't think you have met Mr Shi before, let me introduce you...
Even I don't think he's that stupid, and that's saying something.

If they drive Vitor out by not backing the team, there will be an angry mob outside the front of the BW chanting "Fosun out", like we saw back in the 90's! It would properly turn.

Vitor hasn't said anything controversial, it's all well known issues. Either he'll get reinforcements he's happy with or he'll be gone by Christmas.

I dont think we will drive him out.

At the moment, it feels like Vitor is just annoyed his targets are taking time to get over the line, as the majority of managers are.

Our next incoming was stuck whilst the CWC was going on for example.
Probably also frustrated that players on his list (not that list..) were delayed as Hobbs was busy targeting David Brooks and co, even though Vitor didn't want them. I think that set up was more likely to drive him away than as things are now.

Will see what happens and if we continue to be odd with money but right now I will say just standard frustrations, expressed in the open way that is Vitor.

(Normally my calm posts are followed by the news I am wrong, so apologies in advance when we try to get the Sheff Wed manager 3 days before we play City)

Not really a whole heap different from Lop. Flagging it earlier, the comms are better, but the substance is pretty much the same and Jeff’s recent interview shows no real learnings made. Lop vilified for this of course. Bit odd, but there you go

We’re taking an awful long time over individual transfers and the reality is that outgoings and incomings need a much more radical dynamic. There would be nothing wrong with the current pace if we were adapting a broadly balanced squad. Despite some people being content with some pretty mediocre stopgaps, I don’t think that’s our baseline.

This just doesn't happen anymore. It's been replaced by people tutting on social media.
Most have probably even forgot the words to the "we don't care about Jeff Shi" chant

I'll start getting worried when he's been interviewed in his kitchen by Guillem Balagué.
Interesting to see that he's speaking to the Portuguese media and not pinky & perky from the E&S.

He's already resigned to relegation...

In a separate O Jogo article, the Wolves boss was asked about his plans for the future, and said: “I’m thinking about doing the best I can, and getting reinforcements as quickly as possible so that I and the coaching staff can work and be competitive, very competitive, in the championship.”

I am aligning myself with @Kenny 's view at the moment. We've been informed that "the penny has dropped" and this window isn't going to be like prior windows. Vitor was given some reassurances. Hopefully we maintain that reassurance.

That doesn't mean absurdly splashing the cash, but I am hoping it means reasonable investment.

I totally get peoples cynicism and concern. But I equally don't get the need for online wailing either.
