The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Better than Pubill i say many times one from first division (Omar Al Hilali):

Espanhol returned last seasson to first división, and they made a good season, and that is because that solid defense and gk (Joan Garcia barcelona), and that fw i say many times (Puado)

He only have 22 years and one good full season on first división. I think the next seasson this player hare hard to sign, because that progression.

Manchester City are one team are watching he but seem no intention now to buy.

Whether you think we’re well into pre season or not going into your first pre season game with neither WB position filled by who you want to play there regularly isn’t a good situation.

Celta have the same problem, are delaying a lot time the signings, like a lot teams.

In the end of period, the pressure makes everyone go crazy trying to sign a player, and they end up signing the 3rd or 4th choice, at price gold.

I love that teams sign fast and start the pre-season the most importants players.

Yep just highlighting the obvious that the club is still being run badly regardless of how you view the Pubil situation
Devils advocate:

If we're so badly run, why are other clubs still signing players? Surely they should have done all their business by now shouldn't they?

If Pubil was Vitor's first choice I can forgive them waiting a couple of weeks to try and get him. Especially since we have barely started our pre-season yet.

Every clubs situation is different and not linear.
We came 16th and have offloaded a huge chunk of the squad so our situation is far more pressing I’d say.

Deadline is 1st September. Let's face facts, we are not such an attractive proposition anymore with how things have gone since covid. From what I can see, we are trying to sign the right type of player and going for quality. As we've seen, convincing such a player to come to us isn't easy. I expect as time moves on and the deadline approaches, we will have more options open to us.

Why are we still peddling this myth that we only found out Semedo is leaving 2 weeks ago and then getting angry about it? The club knew in April, every pissing fan knew in May. Just because the media say “we offered a lovely contract” and we haven’t put a bloody post on twitter doesn’t mean we’ve suddenly decided so start looking FFS. We’d actually already made the decision to move on last summer so we didn’t just make the decision to sign a RWB 2 weeks ago…

Is Jhon Arias a liar then?

I'm not blaming the player (although fuck him and his career 😅), I care about my club and you could smell that he probably wasn't keen even from a few journo sound bites.

As DW says, the club better have a plan B ready to rev up, or this is a bit of a shitshow
Agree with most of this, but Jhon isn’t coming because he likes Wolves, he’s coming because we’re in England and European clubs rarely buy players from South America over the age of 23ish.

Almost 100% of our players are going to be “mercenaries” in that way for the foreseeable future.

No, but as you say it’s a crap situation we’ve put ourselves in. Easily quickly rectified but unlikely.

My bigger frustration is that we got used by Romano/agents. Seems naive to me. But what can you do
“What can you do” is handling a massive lift there. Not sure we could have kept it secret from them if we had offered terms to Pubill, and at that point it’s too late to control the narrative, or so I would think.

Not about keeping it a secret though. It’s realising what is going on and moving on quicker.

“The right type of player” there’s only one right type and that’s one that fits straight in.
Leaving business to the last minute is poor running also especially considering 3 games have been burnt by then.
And as @PuntsWolf said the club have known for months now that Semedo was going.

Fair, though with Pubill wanting the move to Atlético it still seems a difficult position for the club.

We’ll see what happens from here; as has been said, if it’s Hoever at RWB or RCB this little saga will indeed be one more pitchfork for the village riot.

Yep. Practically all of our targets, even those who end up signing for us, would jump at the chance to play for an Athetico Madrid over us given half the chance.

I haven't said players have to 'like' Wolves?

I just think it seems like we've been naive and used and the player wasn't that interested.

We've been naive before, fixated on lost causes and ended up with jack shit before, had inadequate transfer windows before, left things too late before, so I think it's perfectly reasonable to be skeptical about the club's dealings and processes when we've lost three first XI players, signed only one and it'll be August next week
