The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I think Vitor might actually want to look at Hoever and HYouTube Bueno, after all he hasn't worked with them yet.

Unless one or both have massively improved since they went out on loan then it won't be a very long look.

Bueno will definitely be involved. Vítor wants a new wing back on both sides, Bueno to compete on the left, Rodrigo on the right. Lima out on loan maybe.

I'm really not happy about Bueno, I think he's bang average.

Hoever will go on a deal similar to Hodge/Campbell. Minimal fee with a high sell on.

I think Hoever is shite but I'm not having him bracketed with Joe Hodge.

Hodge rivals outfield Paul Jones and Frank Nouble for 'how did you ever pass a trial anywhere FFS' vibes. I've genuinely seen better footballers at parks level.

I am always intereated to see how a new manager brings something out of a player that has been meh or poor previously.

I dont think anyone expected JRB to have any impact last season but Vitor found a way with him. Will he drag something out of Hugo...he may not but I am open until he has has had a spell with Vitor.

Yeah, Hodge is on a different level of shite to Hoever. Hoever has 12 months left on his deal though, for some fucking stupid reason we gave Hodge a 4 and a half year deal in 2023. Hoever we'd probably manage to get a reasonable fee for if he had years left on his contract and we hadn't wasted a ridiculous amount of money signing him, as it is we're not going to get enough to write off whatever he costs us this year for PSR and there's no point in loaning him so we write off a year and try to claw back a bit by offering a player for free with a high sell on clause.

Hodge was so shite that we wrote off 3 full years of his contract. How often do clubs actually give up on a player like that?

Bueno looked like a lost little boy in the U21 Euros. Completely out of his depth.

If we bring the puns out again, it’ll be with or without you
I should really have said "in the name of love" can we sign someone

I know there are some pretty entrenched views on here but it can't half get tiresome when it continues across thread after thread after thread.

You'd hope after a fairly successful campaign both domestically and in Europe then Bueno could contribute positively. However we all know that the difference between the Premier League in both style and physicality (particularly Dutch football) can render any success outside of it a moot point.

I'm not sure how successful he actually was.

He basically played until the first choice LB/LWB was fit and then didn't play much after that.

Lost his place when Van Persie took over in February by the looks of things. Played the majority of their European games though prior to that.

When Feyenoord signed him they were all saying online that he'd only play up until January when their best LB Gijs Small returned to fitness and that's exactly what happened.

Jozy Altidore scored 33 goals in that league the season before he moved to Sunderland.

One of the more baffling moments of modern football was Loppers giving Hodge a boatload of compliments within the first few minutes of setting foot in the training ground. From what I remember even young Joe looked like he thought he’d been mixed up with someone else and was on the point of saying ‘uhm, some mistake pal’?
