The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Once again a transfer in has come out of nowhere , no twitter links in advance , no one has ever heard of him - and then , bang ,he's flying in for a medical .
Just another striker / forward now......maybe a midfielder as well..............I'd be happy with that . Johnstone out and buy a keeper perhaps as well .
Let Hwang stay and Sasa perhaps ( no one is going to buy him anyway ) . Sell Fabio , and loan out Lima .
Need another striker/forward, another midfielder & back up to Toti.

I assume Sasa/Hwang will end up being our back up to JSL (so that’s a failure for the window) and Johnstone will stay as back up to Sa (another failure as he’s clearly not happy and it looked like we wanted a new goalkeeper entirely). But if we can get another three over the line in the positions mentioned above, that would do.

It’s just the nature of the level we’re operating at really, isn’t it?

Rarely to any clubs get every one of their number one targets unless they’re operating at a higher level than we are.

Agree, I just don't think there's anything for people to be getting smug about

Oh no definitely not, I agree.

I think we can like the way we have approached the targets without being satisfied at the speed they’re being done.

Tomorrow is a bit of a free hit anyway, as it’s Man City, but if we can have a new RWB in for
Bournemouth & beyond I’m happy with the starting XI but definitely need a few more through the door.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lloyd Kelly through the door on loan if that link has any merit to it. I doubt we will sign a back up 9 if Hwang is staying (mistake) and I think our biggest priority is some kind of cover for Gomes/Andre

I think as long as we have covered Semedo, Cunha, RAN and Sarabia with bodies that VP wants and can use, that's the bare minimum to be happy for me, and we've done that once this latest signing hopefully goes through.

Additional squad players are desperately needed, anything we get for the rest of this window is a bonus for me, then we can look again in January if there are still gaps, or if (😅) we're in a precarious league position.

Bit concerned about AFCON, I imagine Rodrigo (surely not Hoever) and Mosquera will be our contingencies then?

I’m hopeful that Mosquera will already be a key player long before then.

Munetsi and Bellegarde will be the Gomes/Andre cover. I think our squad depth is going to be quite shallow.

I think I’d be more concerned at that than I would be at Hwang covering JSL.
Having my non-existent cake and theoretically eating it… they’re of equal concern to me. JRB and Munetsi are the actual cover for both midfield and up front, indeed Munetsi is likely to be starting up top right now. Regardless of their ability that’s just not manageable. It’s not just suspensions or injuries, they can’t all play 90 minutes each week. We need some more pace going forward, if not a CF in our ‘realistic’ world, and surely there is room for high potential CM if not an experienced one. Despite the facts in front of me each September I actually still think we’ll see this. Even then it won’t deliver the squad we really should have, so it’s hardly moon on a stick aspiration.

Me too, I'd envisage him taking the RCB role, and then when Agba goes, Doc has the RCB shirt again and Yerson goes central?
Or we might have another LCB in the squad at that stage. Seems likely VP is keen on this.

We need some impactful quality off the bench too, last season we had Sarabia who came on and won us points at United and Ipswich, and even Doyle at Brighton and his involvement in the United 2nd goal.

This season what do we have?

We can use 5 subs, I can see us folding towards the end of games due the weakness of our bench.

Munetsi and Bellegarde will be the Gomes/Andre cover.

That certainly won't be the plan. Vítor was clear that he wanted another midfielder and even specified that he wanted it to be a more attacking player. If it's just Munetsi & Bellegarde it'll be because we've failed to get anyone in and while we all agree that the timing of our signings hasn't been ideal there's never been any inclination from anyone at the club that we won't sign players.

I doubt we will sign a back up 9 if Hwang is staying (mistake)

I don't see Hwang staying as having any kind of influence really. He was fit for all of Vítor's time here and just didn't play, I think all he's done is waste a season.

I think I've mentioned it on here before but I'd love for us to go for Daizen Maeda, I think he'd be perfect for Vítor and it's been reported in the Scottish press that he could leave for around the £20M mark.

Then it's that LCB who I think will most likely be a deadline day loan.

Glasner had a bit of a moan about Palace as well not long ago i think.

Clubs of our size have generally struggled in this window, we can all see that. But, at the end of the day, none of us care about the other clubs, we care about Wolves and we shouldn't benchmark ourselves against others failures

Further more, those clubs (Palace, Forest, Fulham) are starting from a much higher point with their squads than us.

Spurs and United who were around us have improved their squads and management.

There is only really Brentford who are significantly worse now than at the end of last season.
