The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

It’s perfectly reasonable to acknowledge the difficulties in the wider market, as it’s where we operate. The equally perfectly reasonable frustration for Wolves fans, one that’s compounded when journalists / commentators / posters simply point to the above in a patronising way, is that we’re coming from a starting point that is so unbalanced such that we DO have to be more transformative. Not in a bonkers way, just allowing for the rebalancing needed - one reflected in the number of outgoings which IS good to see.

…as EP has now said more concisely above!

A big issue this season for clubs like us is the amount of European places that are available. Any half decent player looking for a move is going to prioritise that over any 'project' middle of the road clubs say they have.

I'm going to be optimistic and say we will have competent signings at wide forward/10 and CM by the time the window shuts (maybe even a couple more).
In which case I think that puts us on a footing with West Ham, Bournemouth, Brentford, Everton and above the promoted 3.

Will be interesting to see what Potter does this season . He seemed totally lost at the end of last season , and if he hasn't got the new players that he would like in the door , then it could be interesting .

Is he over rated ? Or was it just a case that Chelsea were too big a club for him ,and he'll do fine at a smaller , less ambitious outfit .

I don't think a lot of West Ham fans are convinced by him, which doesn't say that much as they're a pretty delusional fanbase at the best of times

I'd probably argue that Bournemouth and West Ham are, as well.
Bournemouth have replaced the players they've sold though haven't they? They've bought a keeper, CB and a left back. Spending €80m. But like us, unknown how well they'll replace the departed.

West Ham have spent €80mill too and brought in KWP and Callum Wilson, they sold Kudus, so they're arguably stronger than last season overall?

The couple I know enough that I speak too frequently about footy both hate him. One is convinced they will go down if they stick with him too long.

Callum Wilson might have been an alright signing 2 years ago. Last season proved he is shot, and is going to be injured for at least 30% of games.
