The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Wouldn't be necessarily unusual. See Ancelotti and Luke Garbutt
Might not be unprecedented, but I think it says a lot about the club and potentially VP if upon his arrival he wasn't briefed about every player we have down to the academy, and if he himself didn’t take that interest too?

Matt Jackson - is he still our loan manager?

At an optimistic guess, maybe he means he expected KJ to be worse? He seems to like the kid.

Guess we’ll see.

I'm not seeing what Vitor is. Tbf Ive only really seen him against Celta. First half he was appalling, didn't seem to want to get involved either defensively or going forward (apart from one reasonable cross). Looked jittery to me. Second half he was marginally less shit.

Probably just blowing a bit of smoke up his arse to get his confidence up ready for his next loan

Whilst i'm no fan of Hoever, Bueno's performance v Vigo was far more worrying, but at least he definitely won't be playing today.

He's literally the only warm body left to be a RWB, not like VP has any other option until new signing now.

Lima, Doherty, Bellegarde…and to be honest I would put all three ahead of him and that isn’t a compliment to any of those three.

I'm not saying he is the ultimate answer but last week when Rodrigo replaced him, we immediately looked more dangerous.

It probably boils down to Hoever being a more natural defender than Rodrigo. If we didn't have City in the first game and were instead playing a Leeds, or a Burnley - Rodrigo might have got the nod - but I suspect Vitor wants us to be solid.

The fact Hoever is going to be our first choice RWB against Manchester City on the opening day of the Premier League season in 2025 shows how much of a fucking clown-show we are under Fosun, and how much of a ridiculous managed decline they've overseen.

Anyway. When the match kicks off he gets my full support and I hope he has a cracking game.

It is a choice...but Doc can't play RWB and RCB at the same time and Lima is obviously miles off so really it's Hoever or Rodrigo
Yeah, I don't think VP sees Doc as an option at RWB, and rightly so. Lima is still a project. Personally I'd prefer to see Rodrigo further forward and used as an attacking option in the front 3 rather than RWB, but appreciate that is probably not how VP sees him. Which leaves Hoever as the only realistic choice, for better, or more likely, for worse.
