The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

You know, if we got 60 odd million for him I’d quite readily take it but the obvious issue is then replacing him which we would be so crap at doing
I don’t disagree. I’d also be concerned about the impact him leaving would have on Fer Lopez & Wolfe, when clearly JSL played a large part in getting them here.

I can’t see us selling JSL, even with our shit track record.

Yes, £60m would be great business but it’ll cost most of that to get another 14-goal PL striker…….and there aren’t many of them available.

If this was 6-8 weeks ago, it’s a different conversation.

While JSL leaving will be a very low % likelihood there is a plausible context for it happening. If (IF) we’re in a changed scenario in which we have to, and will, be much more active in the final days of the transfer window. If VP feels like rolling the dice to be transformative given the depressing look of the alternative - and long term career stability hardly seems front of mind for him. If he doesn’t rate JSL as irreplaceable. If he thinks players he plausibly has access to would move given the guy handling it is known to him. Well, he won’t find an objection from his boss, far from it.

JSL is nowhere near a £65m player more a £40m tops, however we’d try and replace him with a £20m player. I could see VP walking if we sold him and recruited like we have in the WB positions. Unlike GO he’d be in demand for most vacancies that arise in the PL so why should he ruin his reputation trying to achieve something with totally inadequate tools?

And you all wondered why we were playing hardball over Silva, JSL gets sold, Jeff tells the generational talent this has always been the plan, Silva his ego stroked stays for a couple of seasons goes on a scoring run to equal Bully, we qualify for Europe, win the FA cup and he’s then sold for £100 million.
We applaud the long term 4D chess Jeff played, and demand a statue of the both of them outside the now renamed and redeveloped Jeff Shi stand

Not if it's contingent on us signing a replacement first...

Ninja'd by Kenster...

I think if JSL was sold and replaced by Fabio, the collective rage would generate such a force it would open up a giant sinkhole that would swallow Molinuex, and then close the sinkhole again and we'd never speak of Wolves again........ apart to therapists in the decades that follow

Loan with an option to buy would be pointless. No Premier League football club would be stupid enough to buy Hwang permanently after watching him for a whole season. Oh wait...
Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if he moved there and knocked in 10+ goals for them this season. It stinks of it!

I'd be happy if he did tbh as they'd be tempted to make it permanent, he's surplus to requirements here and long term we know that he's never going to stay fit long enough to do anything like that consistently. He's also a rubbish footballer, he might knock in goals for them but the chances of him suddenly turning into a good player are below zero.

I think we will push for permanent. Palace are going to be getting around £100m if Guehi and Eze go and they will look to get 3 or 4 players in with that.
