Things that make you SAD thread.

I cannot believe it is 20 years since the London bombings. I can recall the whole day so vividly. I went through Edgware Road as normal that morning and had just arrived at my desk in Paddington when the shit hit the fan. Thankfully I didn't know anybody actually on those trains or the bus but I can remember us frantically checking that everybody had made it into the office and was accounted for. Bloody awful day.
There was a guys story on the BBC website yesterday, he looked into the eyes of one of the bombers as he pulled the pin. He survived mainly due to an ex forces medic.

I don't get to post much these days,
( I should try harder)
Just had a message from my niece who lives just off the Bradmore Rd stating she got beat up by 2 hooded kids, black clothes, face masks and all that garb in broad day light outside her local chippy
She's just turned 30 and is 4'9" at most...
Wolverhampton got that bad??

that's just round the corner from my folks and where I grew up. worked in the gunmakers arms for ages. Used to hang around that area a lot.
Horrible to hear - hope your niece is ok mate.

All the men who should know better and would be apoplectic with rage if it was their daughter being bullied.

16yo Skye Stout signed her first pro contract for Kilmarnock FC, she’s got acne, the club put her photo up and the bullying started, it’s been so bad, the post has been taken down and comments restricted on all mentions of her name.
The pictures out there, I’m not posting it, it’s not fair to do so.

I got bullied so much for acne, it's an awful experience and very little to do with hygiene.

Must be horrendous now with the social media aspect to deal with, just no escape.

My wife was born with a cleft lip and palate and had a torrid time as a child. The dozens of operations, bone grafts, skin grafts, all kinds of dental work and speech therapy all worked amazingly well but the psychological aspects of the cruelty will always sit in the background.

She’s blossomed into a wonderful adult and the physical scars are virtually invisible (although she says I’m just being kind), but it was the expertise and care she received as a child that inspired her to become a healthcare professional herself and is one of the reasons I’m very proud of her.

At least back then kids used to be able to lock themselves away in the privacy of their own home and get a respite from it, but it’s just 24hrs a day now. Shocking such a major achievement for Skye Stout has turned into something so awful. I just hate what digital imagery and social media can do sometimes.
