Trump

On a much lesser scale the same concept applies to Gabon which also received ´repatriated ex-slaves´ often with no historical connection to the Gabon area.

The new Gabonese president is reported as follows:

“We are not poor countries. We are rich countries when it comes to raw materials. But we need partners to support us and help us develop those resources,” said Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, president of Gabon. “You are welcome to come and invest. Otherwise, other countries might come instead of you.”

Having briefly worked there just a few years ago, I can add that the following countries have been ´investing´ in Gabon especially under the corrupt former dictator: France (controlling most things eg air links to Paris for manufactured produce and a great deal of food), but it´s on the way out), India (palm oil plantations and air and seaport development), Russia and China (national football stadium). The USA has interfered but not very much - Trump wants access to oil, of course!).

He doesn't have any knowledge of American history, so knowing about Liberia is well above his intellectual capacity.
He knows the most Bourgeois version of American history, I’d say. Everywhere and everyone is just another resource to be strip-mined.

I mean, he didn't even know the difference between the War of Independence and the Civil War. That's as basic history as you can get. Pretty sure it's taught in what we call Primary school (Elementary school?) He's dumber than a bunch of rocks.

Nobody here calls it the War of Independence. 🙂

Should go without saying that I’m not accusing him of being intelligent, per se. I’m saying he has the perspective of any silver-spooned American. That he’s not aware enough to examine that perspective at all is where his particular brand of Bourgeois bullshit runs headlong into imbecility.

Maybe another revolution is gonna have to come to get rid of the orange dictator.
If only. I don’t think there’s anything close to enough leftists (real leftists) for a unified revolution. I expect it would devolve into various sects which the government would ensure spend more time fighting each other than the actual Bourgeoisie.

Not sure it needs leftists, just people with the original spirit of the early Americans, stuff he's done since he started this term seems very un American to me.

Careful… a lot of early American history makes Trump’s shit look like a pillow fight.

On being “un-American”, I generally agree with you, though what is and isn’t “American” is open to interpretation. To Trump’s core (thankfully shrinking by the week), America stopped being American with Little Rock. I wish that was a joke, but no, you can trace a lot of the current conservative/libertarian toxicity back to the Federal government ending segregation.

Oh, Little Rock, Arkansas may not be a known place over there; it was the first city to end segregation in public schools. The “Little Rock Nine”, those first Black students were called. The Arkansas National Guard had to give them a sort of honor guard to make sure they got into the school building safely. That was just 60 years ago; there are still plenty of bigots alive now who were paying attention then.
