No, I would say that we don't but it is also possible to look at the bigger picture and see a player who has, on several occasions, put himself ahead of the good of the club. Cunha has done himself no favours with his antics in my book and that's why I wouldn't vote for him.

He's been the best player over the course of the season. That's the vote. Not 'second best player because the actual best player rubs me up the wrong way'.

We need to have two goal of the season competitions, a Cunha one and a best of the rest award.
Thats my view in this category too. Cunha wins with a decent competition on who would have done so without him.

I’d give it to Agba even if he’s only been here half a season as he’s transformed how tight and organised we are at the back.

If you're taking out Cunha then it's André, Agba, João, Aït-Nouri then Jørgen for me.

I swear before your personal equivalent of God that I did not make a burner account to vote for Marshall.

Too much nonsense banging on about someone's antics etc...Cunha is a joy to watch.

The calender year for 2024 was a miserable experience, with Cunha a rare bright spot in a sea of shit.

In the first half of this season he carried the team pretty much on his own, if he didn't create something out of nothing they were fucked.

I'll miss him when he's gone as he entertains.

Do people really just want robots for footballers??

Not voting for Cunha is like people not voting for Bully during his peak years because he was a bit naughty and twatted Steve Walsh once or twice #youveletusdownagain
Agreed. I think the interesting debate is who is best of the rest, and on that there are a fair number of good contenders. I don't get to see many of our games anymore, particularly in person so I suspect the likes of Andre and Gomes go underappreciated by armchair fans like me however I would put RAN second because he's clearly a very skillful footballer and conservely Semedo for the leadership and consistency he has brought as well

But he's missed over a fifth of it due to himself, for matches that I thought we looked better, surely that has to be taken into account?

And Leics at home when Cunha started?

That looked better to my eye than the preceding games that he was suspended for...🤷‍♂️

In reality his 'antics' are the stupid incident with the glasses at the end of O'Neil's reign when the whole team was in meltdown mode and losing his shit after being sent off against Bournemouth when I think he was frustrated by Kerkez and Bournemouth shit housing but he was the one sent off.

When I see rival fans speaking of his 'suspect' temperament it makes me laugh. In reality he has had a couple of flashpoints but 98% of the time he's absolutely fine. I will be sad to lose him, fantastic footballer

There isn't a conversation here, Cunha is hands down our best player.

There's an argument around second best player (André, João, RAN, Agba - in no particular order, they've all been very good).

Anyone not voting for Cunha needs to have a long sit in a dark room to consider why they hate watching an incredibly talented forward.

Have I got i wrong all these years? I just presumed Player of the season = best player of the season.

No it's clearly 'Best player over the last 2 months/favourite player/most improved player/best new signing/best player who hasn't won POTS before/2nd best player after the actual best player who has hurt my feelings/player I really want to stay next season'. Delete as appropriate.

Depends how you interpret it. Some people just want others to agree with them and can't handle differences in opinion. All subjective.

It's more than that for me. He has been temperamental with his teammates during the season also. Often throwing his arms up in the air or giving them a look or body language that says he's disgusted. I could get into his work rate when we've lost the ball but I'll leave it at that.

I’d go with “player I’m naming because the award is just meaningless fun”.

I’m sure no player is mad to win it, but equally I doubt it would be a centerpiece in the trophy case (fair play to those who find it meaningful tbf).

Differences of opinion are fine.

When they fly in the face of the empirical evidence then it's just plain horseshit... and gets called out as such.

The criticism seems really petty to me.

Also, it's a bit rich criticising Cunha for his discipline and then giving it Joao Gomes but no mention of his needless sending off against Arsenal when Wolves had the man advantage...
