Wolves 3-0 Leicester: Verdict Thread

Wasnt he flagging for Cunha's initial touch?
If it was, also a bad call. That is Cunha as the ball deflects to him. Now Strand is offside there but the ball isn't played to him and also not involved in anything until a shot, a save and a pass, where he is then on side.

My thought at the time, being pretty close to a good view, was that he was giving it for Cunha off side, likely covering his own back with VAR to overrule as it was reasonably tight and chaotic for that pass. Then again, doesn’t really make sense to do that after the miss, so maybe it was just a goal kick.

Like the way MOTD only showed the none definitive angle for the penalty decision. The one behind the goal shows Vardy throws his foot into Sa crotch so it should’ve been a free kick and yellow card for simulation.
A lot of karma has hit Leicester this season boasting about their court room loophole win over the PL thinking it was the launchpad for them staying up.
I think they’re in a mess currently and run the risk of drifting into ghost club status.

I was right behind it, it's simulation for sure but Sa will forever put us in jeopardy of copping a bad call (never expected VAR to overturn it, they just don't these days) with his habit of flying out towards attackers when they're going nowhere. He's done it since day one and isn't going to change now.

Pretty sure he's right near the top of the list for all-time pens conceded in the PL by a GK, only slightly behind the likes of Howard and Foster who were first choice for 10+ years, not 4.

In general he's been very good under Vitor but he doesn't get off scot free for me.

We have won the last 6, but it shows how shite the bottom 3 are that we'd still be safe and 17th had we only won 1 of those 6 (as long as it was against Ipswich).

I wouldn't say yesterday was rushing out to nowhere though. He had to come out or Vardy has a simple shot. It was actually quite controlled for Sa and stopped when he needed to. The fact Vardy had to actually kick out to find the contact demonstrates that.

Think he wanted to lamp Vardy after saving it though which would have opened a Cunha sized can of worms

Sá absolutely didn’t stop when he needed to, though. Vardy creates the contact but he’s hardly stretching to do so, he only needed to change the timing of his stride. That the contact is made with Sá’s groin demonstrates that IMO.

I would have been completely dumbfounded had it been overturned.

José Fonte
Ryan Shawcross
Sébastien Bassong
Ciaran Clark
Heurelho Gomes
Ben Foster
Tim Howard
David Luiz
Ibrahima Sonko

The only Premier League players in history to have conceded more penalties than José Sa. He's three behind Fonte, two behind Shawcross and one behind the rest.

It isn't a bug, it's a feature.

Jeez, we really can’t accept nice things, ay?

The teams below us are not very good, relatively speaking, but we were just as bad or worse pre-VP. We don’t need to minimize the turnaround by focusing on the issues with the clubs we’ve pulled ourselves away from.

Timmy in this list hurts me but he was around for a long while.

If i am the keeper I do nothing differently to Sa (maybe I concede or am sent off for calling Vardy and the ref cunts)

You have to understand it's not just about being in a position to save. You are also creating a situation to rush the attacker into a decision, ideally take the ball wide and limit the option or a shit rushed shot.
If Sa races out and doesn't stop then it's fair game to have a pop. He did everything I would want a keeper to do in that situation and he has been done by a) a cheat b) a ref fooled by it and 3) twats watching it back and going yeah Sa sucked his leg in to himself there, defies the laws of physics so it's a pen.

Woah.

It wasn't a criticism (of us), it was merely an observation of how little we needed to do in the end.

Can we have the list of the incidents please.

I think 2 are unlucky the rest deserved from memory

Watkins and Vardy unlucky

I mean, I just can’t agree.

I’m not arguing that he shouldn’t have come out in the first place, but he’s not in control of himself by the time Vardy takes the touch around. I certainly don’t think Vardy has crossed the line into cheating, not even close IMV.

Regardless, fair to say this is an “agree to disagree” at this point. 🙂

I agree you are wrong is my stance😀

I argue from a view point of being in the same position as Sa multiple times (mainly getting it wrong I will admit and whilst playing in a shitty pub league)
