Wolves Academy Thread

Seems like we've got a real problem retaining talent at these levels lately.
If I’m honest this is the situation for any club who isn’t Chelsea/United/City/Liverpool/Arsenal.

For example in London you have West Ham who are routinely losing their best U14s lately. Let alone clubs smaller than them in London who get picked off at evening younger ages a lot of the time.

Only ever been to one of those. PSG in 2019 when we drew 1-1.

Went back to look if I'd inadvertently seen a future superstar.

Wolves: Sondergaard, Sanderson, Otasowie (Buur), Marques, Csoka, Kitolano (Thompson), Watt, Cundle, Perry, Campbell (Dongda He), Ashley-Seal.

Unused subs: Pardington, Nya, Tsun Dai, Samuels.

PSG: Innocent, Mutombo (Nagera), Bakker, Kitenge, Sissako, Kapo, Bernadou (Coulibaly), M’ze, Fressange, Ruiz-Atil, Makutungu.

Unused subs: Bitumazala, Toure, Saidani, Oufella, Yousfi.

I did not.

I was looking him up recently because of wondering what happened to him since he left. Very odd situation and shows the difficulty of making it. Had the size and most of the technical ability it felt like, but seemingly not the mindset.

He had what you can't teach, but couldn't be taught what he needed to learn

The move to Belgium went terribly. He tried to get a loan back into England in the championship I think within six months of going even. Then started his own weird business I think?

Also guilty of one of the worst misses I've ever seen from a Wolves player
I remember that one, at the time it was poor that none of the senior players went over to console him, in hindsight it was probably because he was a massive bellend and no one liked him

Yeah there wasnt a massive amount of info. I saw he had went awol for a bit. Then that he had spotted playing.

On his Instagram he hadn't posted since 2022 then posted a random photo of him posing within the last few months. Most of what I found was US footy fans discussing him on Reddit and elsewhere, and also trying to figure out what had happened.

Playing Wealdstone (you want some, I'll give it yer) tonight:

There's a mystery. What has happened to Nathan Fraser.

Played two games in January for our U21s after Zulte-Waregem sent him back and disappeared completely from view. He's not injured as far as I know.

Blimey it’s relentless!
It’s always been hard to bring a youth team player through to the first team but if most of the better prospects are poached by the bigger teams it does make you wonder if it’s worth bothering.

Yeah, it’s quite demoralising for fans as you want to see someone come through, and especially so for the staff working really hard to develop the players

We spend a fair bit academy wise. That said, it’s definitely paying for itself.

Voice needs to succeed, just so we can use the John Farnham song* as a chant

That entire loan was odd too. I just had a scan and spotted this in an article from March on the Athletic.

"Fraser is currently taking part in a personal training programme designed to improve his physicality after a difficult loan in Belgium during the first half of the season. He is therefore not playing matches for the under-21s, with another loan expected next summer."
