Wolves / Covid-19

If you had to finish the season now, cancel relegation and playoffs, but not promotion, and have a 22 team league next year. It sorts out all the divisions below who then don't need to implement relegation either and rids any lawsuits from teams feeling unfairly dealt with. Cancel next years League Cup at the same time to make time for the extra fixtures.

Seems there's a precedent for this last year in Chile when they had to curtail the season due to civil unrest, champions were awarded and top2 promoted with no relegation.

Complete the season in September finish in November. Next two years play over calendar year start in Jan finish in October, (summer football ), finish in October 2022, get the joke of Qatar out the way and then sort new calendar of normality.

As much as I hate the villa not being relegated this is the most pragmatic solution for everyone.

Im not sure i get the, promote clubs but dont relegate the others.... Makes no sense to me.

My logic is that it will cost 100m if you get relegated or don’t get promoted and you can’t please everyone. I am sure Norwich supporters are hoping that some compromise is done as they are currently fucked and any lifeline will be grabbed. Leeds and WBA if they missed out on premier football because the season ends and there is no promotion will be whinging like Liverpudlians in Madrid

Norwich actually don't seem to be saying anything.

It's West Ham and Spurs who have declared that they want it void

1 because the team are right in the relegation shit
1 because the team is likely to miss out on Europe which will be financially bad news.

An epic 9 team mini league with bottom 3 in the prem and top 6 from the championship.

Top 3 go into the premier league, bottom 6 stay down

8 rounds played in neutral venues over a month, maybe 6 weeks

Finishing the season up to November, and starting next season in Feb seems OK to me. It would align with the Qatar WC, then figure it out after that is done.

Apparently 2 up and 5 down the next season. The EFL cup cancelled. Realistically those extra games will mean a raise in ST prices.

I don't think that will happen. Plus the only way it does is if we don't play the four home games left this season, so the extra games balance out on what they would end up owing us for.

Oh for a Duckworth-Lewis method eh ...

"Wolves chairman Jeff Shi has issued the following message to supporters following the Premier League's decision to postpone all football activity until Saturday 4th April, and the club’s decision to close Molineux and its associated functions until the same time.

I write this note at a time of great adversity, not just for football, or for the country my family and I are honoured to now call our home, but for the population of the entire world that we share.

I’ve been in close contact with friends, family and colleagues in China since the coronavirus pandemic began in Wuhan, which has afforded me an acute awareness of the virus’ threat and impact, and a deep desire to take all measures possible to protect our players, staff, supporters and the community that we live in.

Firstly, I would like to heap praise on our coaches, players and staff who traveled to Athens this week to take part in a fixture that none of us felt was appropriate to play. They showed great professionalism and dedication to take to the field in a stadium devoid of atmosphere, in a continent gripped with anxiety, and still deliver a performance and positive result.

Of course, we took all appropriate measures to ensure that the staff and players who travelled were protected where possible from the threat of contracting coronavirus, and we will continue to keep improving these measures all the time to help them remain safe and healthy.

At Wolves we have a responsibility to protect not only our players, but also every employee at the club, which is why we have taken the further step of asking all of our staff to work from home over the forthcoming days and weeks. From my knowledge and understanding of the virus, social distancing is crucial to the fight against it, so this is a necessary course of action and a sacrifice we all have to make.

We have also taken the decision to temporarily close important parts of Molineux, such as the Megastore, Ticket Office and Wolves Foundation to ensure that our staff are able to stay at home where possible and make their contribution to limiting the spread of the virus. All of our staff will of course continue to be paid for the duration of the club’s closure and this period of uncertainty.

I appeal to our supporters to follow our lead, and to stay as safe as possible during what will no doubt be a very testing time. Please don’t underestimate the threat of this virus, to you or those around you, and employ best practice to limit the spread, including good hygiene and proper social distancing, which are both key.

Our ownership group Fosun are also very keen to do all they can to help, and have been in contact with us, and the City of Wolverhampton Council, to express their support for Wolves and the people of this city. They have already shipped medical supplies to the UK, much of which will come to Wolverhampton where we hope it can help frontline services in the area, should the time come that they need it.

Finally, I would like to make a promise to all Wolves supporters: Throughout the challenges of the forthcoming weeks and months, everyone at Wolves will continue to work as hard as we possibly can to keep progressing, keep innovating, and return even stronger and more hungry to achieve success. We will not rest.

Until then, please stay safe and don’t take any risks. Look after yourselves and look after each other. We will get through this."

Some right idiot on the dark side moaning about the statement. Making himself look a complete fucking fool.
