Wolves Women Thread

That you have to apply for promotion in the first place seems incredibly bizarre to me. Is this something that needs to be done on the men’s side and I am just unaware?
Yeah, it's common to have these in place - Kidderminster Harriers were denied promotion to the Football League over something not meetings their requirements.

You have to apply to UEFA for a license to play in their competitions too.

This should not be a surprise to the club at all. It's not that we haven't filled this paperwork in before.

Funny they didn't oppose making changes upon promotion to the independently owned league when £120m broadcast money was on offer.

Take everything, give nothing.

Yep of course it’s all about principle.
Quick few questions:
When did you find out about the price hike? Did you inform the playing staff of what was happening straight away?
Trueful answers will be July 2024 and No.
Unfortunately so many idiots will buy it.
If your attitude is don’t care about the women’s team so don’t care then that’s your choice.
However it’s a really archaic poor look for the club as a whole.
Simply being the complete lack of trust I’d have with Fosun.
How can you play for a side when the ones who own the club you represent would actively not want you to succeed?

So how many fans turn up for the Wolves women's kick around?

I’ll bite.

I know that your just on a wind up mission but do you really want to compare the cost of player wages vs the gate income of the men’s and women’s game?
A little clue for you, in total the cost of Wolves women was £0.3m in 2023/24, which has the bonus of being deductible for PSR purposes.

I wasn't actually comparing the men's game v the women's. It isn't comparable.

The women's game stands on its own two feet. I was merely asking questions about how the Wolves women side is run, who attends, how many attend, what the understanding of those involved maybe and generally trying to find out more before jumping on the attack like so many on this thread have done.

Bottom line is I don't know enough to be critical and lay all the blame on Fuson / Jeff or anyone else at Wolves. I made that clear in my first post. Naturally, a few posters then want to shovel some shite my way so I thought I'd shovel it back.

Now, if the outlay is truly £300K in 2023/24, what would the expected outlay be if they were playing at a higher level?

At what level should Wolves support a women's team? What is the return on that investment likely to be...i) in terms of a proper business plan, ii) in terms of lifetime value of a supporter of the team, iii) in terms of the added value it gives to Wolves FC and the City of Wolverhampton.

On face value this looks like another shit show and badly handled, but there must be good reasons for it other than simply to crap on the women who played the season, the coaches who coached and the supporters who did go. I'd like to know more about those reasons and the expectations before hand. That's all.

'I don't necessarily disagree with you being angry at the club raising prices astronomically for no reason for 6 years running, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt'

'I don't necessarily disagree with you being angry at the club for appointing a wanker like Bruno Lage and needlessly handing Gary O'Neil a four year deal, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt'

'I don't necessarily disagree with you being angry at the club for spending over £80m on Fabio Silva, Ki-Jana Hoever, Gonçalo Guedes and Sam Johnstone, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt'

'I don't necessarily disagree with you being angry at the club for cutting off the women's team over what is basically a rounding error in our annual accounts, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt'

Let's not, eh.

Your choice. I'm just not going to wait at my keyboard all anxious to fire another missile at Jeff over something I don't have enough facts about.

You’d save yourself a lot of trouble and me a lot of nausea if you’d just say this the first time.

Regardless of the aforementioned shit “joke”, it would take one Hell of a fucking argument to convince me that it isn’t completely fucked that we pay Sarabia more in a month than we apparently spent on the entire women’s setup for a year.

I mean you don't really need to do a deep dive in to how Wolves Women is run do you?

This is a question about honesty and integrity.

They let Wolves Women believe that they were competing for promotion from the division. They kept them in the dark. They weren't honest with them and were deceitful.

That's the sum of it and as Jeff has put himself in place as to be running the whole show then you have to point the finger at him, don't you...

Equally your choice.

I mean maybe Gary Glitter isn't that bad a guy. I wasn't there when he fiddled with kids so who's to say.

Well, if you believe the E&S article, they did file the paperwork in the previous two seasons but this time around they disagreed with the higher fee that would need to be paid as well as some other reasons.

As for honesty and integrity, have a feeling there is a whole lot more to the story so we'll find out in due course. Agreed, at this stage it doesn't look good.

They’re not getting of this one without looking either, incompetent, heartless, morally bankrupt or just and probably more likely penny pinchers.
