I went mad when Bolt won. Fucking brilliant moment - I didn't think he was going to do it but true greats can pull it out of the bag on the biggest stage.

As for the heptathlon - delighted for Jess but absolutely gutted for KJT - I was really hoping she'd get a medal.

So true. I am (as you may have noticed gentle reader) a massive cycling fan. Athletics is heading dangerously close to the same credibility problem as cycling had. It was getting referred to as chemical factories going up mountains even before l'affaire Armstrong. Bolt winning ahead of that doping wanker gives athletics a few more months for Coe to clean it up.

Sadly, Usain Bolt winning does not take away the real concern about how many athletes are not "clean."

It is a start. Note Bolt delivers a solid performance. Not up with his best. And everyone celebrates the clean athlete. Compare that with the reaction to Froome. And cycling is now a LOT cleaner than athletics.
