Bournemouth 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Joao and Sa today - that’s it.
I dunno about Joao. He got made to look like a park player last weekend thanks to Reindeers. Didn’t think he was much better today, although was getting roughed up. It’s a clear tactic for opposition teams to get in to him now. What I do like about him is he never slacks off in effort, but I’d say he’s a fair distance off his best so far this season too.

He played in a midfield ā€œoneā€ and ran his bollocks off.

Couldn’t have done much more, today.

It feels like there's something not right in the squad at the moment, a few players with an eye on the exit door and a few wondering their fate when/if players come in. It is like watching 10 players going through the motions, predictable and robotic.

When Jackson came on we continued playing as if it was Hoever, slow and safe, sideways and backwards. Only once was a ball played through where he could utilise his speed and he got in behind them and put in a decent cross.

The drop off at left wing back (for now) is massive. Same on the right...and it shows.

Larsen is not and never will be worth £60 million. His performance had me hoping they would bring Hwang on. That's not on.

Bournemouth, on another day, would have scored 3 or 4 and I dont think they are that good. We didn't look any worse with 10 than 11.

Absolutely 100% nail on the head.

A chap on SSN summed it up nicely a day or two back on their transfer show. He said the difference with a club like us and someone like, Newcastle (possibly a slightly bad example given they have CL football, but the same could be said for most of the clubs you’d expect to see in the top 8-10 places in this league) is that they are viewed as a ā€œdestination clubā€. A club that players should want to sign for, should want to play for. Should want to fight for the badge, for the fans - and be happy that you’re there (the specific conversation was about Isak).

You just simply don’t get that with us. We’re a selling club. Players know that they’re here for a couple of years, perform well, you’ll get your move. In most cases those players are in the main unchallenged for their position in the starting 11 so it doesn’t even matter if they play well or not.

It leads to this weird environment that we now have. The players that want to be here are happy because they’re not good enough. The others have one eye on the exit door and probably some insecurity about their future because they’re know they’ll eventually be sold. It’s not a good working environment.

I’ll be honest, for the reasons mentioned in my first post in this thread, the whole squad seems a bit… ā€˜off’ at the moment. It’s a huge concern.

Yes the problem is we have quantities of crap who are just happy to be classified as a PL player but simply not good enough so are happy to just sit around.
Any quality player knows full well they are just passing through.
It creates a club with very little identity and it’s vastly unhealthy.
We’re a destination club just unfortunately we have to many crap players.

This season feels like the one that we finally drop. As bad as we were at times last season having that X factor with Cunha, creativity with RAN and leadership and solid performances by Semedo we had enough to get out of the mess.
Andre and Joao are good midfielders but aren’t match winners.
JSL is heavily reliant on supply, the fact that in the first 2 games Arias and Lopez have less than 90 minutes between them.

We’re way beyond being able to allow players to adapt or time to bed in.
3 more players would leave us with a chance, this squad currently hasn’t got a chance in hell of staying up it’s hideous.

Whatever we put out today, it didn't look like a good advert for Wolves or the Premier League. A sorry-looking, ragtag assembly of players that obviously can't score, can't pass, can't even stay on the pitch. The recruits are either anonymous or generally hopeless - hardly game changers - and without some good signings they have all the hallmarks of a team destined to be relegated with a whimper. Worst team we've fielded in the Prem during the Fosun era? Hard pressed to think of worse.

The side that we picked looked like a club who’s got an unexpected promotion and is trying to survive on a budget.
Hwang, S Bueno, H Bueno, Doherty, Hoever, JRB, Munetsi all either started or got minutes today none of them are PL players if we went down I’d not want them to stay here.
Let’s not forget the likes of Lima and R Gomes who by all accounts clearly aren’t ready to contribute.

Sa MOTM today?

Thought S.Bueno had a really good game when he came on too.

Hugo good going forward, a ghost defensively.

Probably the worst debut 15 mins or so from Jackson I ever remember from anyone.

Emblen, Williams, Bob Taylor, who more recently that have been as bad?

Much, much, much better in the second half though. Hopefully was just a head rush moment through nerves and we don't see it from him again. Even the Bournemouth fans were taking the piss.

For me Bueno, Hoover and Larsen the few balls he touch.

Good player but never going to be creative and takes way too many touches all the time. Never moves the ball quickly or progressively enough. We hype him up but I don't really see much that he does better than a guy like Will Hughes tbh.

Honesty its better lose now, because have time to sign players.

But for me, the best teams are that teams close the 80% team in pre-seasson.

You guys need 4 player in all position:

1 defense for Doc
1 defensive midfield (you guys no have this type of player, Andre not is 100% defensive)
1 ofensive midfield (C.Uche)
1 forward play in all position of attack (right, left and center) but main on right.

We don't need 5 at the back, and a DM, and Andre.

I think we’ll bring in another 2/3 players, sadly they’ll be more JRB/MM level players so just a case of padding out the squad either way more average players.

Totally agree, we've accumulated the core of a team that might do ok in the championship and then accidentally find themselves in the prem.

Too many players are nowhere near the quality we need or should expect after a reasonable time in the top flight.

How Marshall "Dave Edwards without the goals" Munetsi plays 90 minutes regularly is bewildering

That's down to Vitor. He doesn't have to keep playing him.
Could go 5-2-2-1 with Arias and Lopez behind JSL.
Joao and Andre holding, plus two wing backs

MM can’t continue to play. Common sense will eventually prevail and people will start seeing what we can, so obviously, see.

It’s like The Emperor’s New Clothes at the moment.

I can’t believe that anyone that knows anything, remotely, about the game of football can find a legitimate reason to allow him to play Premier League football.

He’s the first name on VĆtor’s team sheet, unfortunately.

We're also rubbish at being a selling club. There is a way to do it semi effectively, and a lot of clubs are selling off players they've developed and might normally have kept for PSR reasons. But the squad has depreciated so much now we no longer have time or capacity to develop another Ait-Nouri (plus we got a terrible fee there anyway).

Rodrigo Gomes, Fer Lopez, Pedro Lima etc. may or may be worth more than we bought them for but we're so poor we don't really have the time to find out.

Meanwhile we now seem to have switched to buying older players in the 20m range to help keep us afloat. Hard to see us making anything off Arias or Agbadou. And certainly not off Bellegarde or Munetsi.

It's plughole circling stuff.
