Bournemouth 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

He moved out what was clearly the toxic disrupters and instilled discipline back in the dressing room. That’s good management but once you remove trouble makers it’s amazing how calm things become.
He got the basics right which was enough to overcome the sides in real trouble and move comfortably away from the drop.
He probably needs to move up a level now and start getting even more out of what we’ve got.
Whilst Cunha was out you still had RAN and Semedo in the side also.
The idea we would have been just fine without Cunha is delusional.

In the last week or so he has called out Andre and JSL about their attitude or application. The first time he spoke to Jackson appears to be when he met him at the training ground. He doesn’t seem settled on his preferred wing backs, he has started both games and most of pre season with a player he wasn’t aware of. He has given the captain’s arm band to someone who doesn’t give any indication of leadership qualities.

If you take all the good and all the bad of VP’s tenure, you end up with something very average. Kudos for keeping us up last season, but I am not convinced.

Each to their own and all that but constantly searching for a negative must drain the living fuck out of your mental health!
Constantly searching? It is presented in easily accessible form on the Internet daily. Zero effort or stress required. But if you are really interested in my mental health beyond using it as a lazy trope, please feel free to ask about things that actually do drain the living fuck out of my mental health.

Good post

This club provides ample amounts of negativity and you don’t have to go looking for it.
People are trying to be objective with this last season and this one all need some context to them.

It wasn't directed at your goodself...just bad timing

IF we are able to bring in some more bodies before the window closes, they must be good enough to come straight in. Enough of those "one for the future" players. The future is the championship with this current squad. Not impressed with this window`s recruits yet, albeit they have had very limited playing time.

This is where I am at as well. I was never really sold on the points before pints stuff and to me VP feels like a straight fit for the Watford here today gone tomorrow manager template.

Want very much to be proven wrong

Didn't see the game yesterday, only the so called highlights on MotD. Arias looked overweight on the TV. Maybe just the camera angle. Don't know.

VPs average tenure as manager has him out the door just as we hit the January window.

That feels more than likely at the moment

We have to trust the manager to integrate the new signings into the team/system and it's ok to say Mosquera should be starting instead of Doc, but again we have to assume the manager along with the fitness and medical staff are doing what is best for the whole squad going forwards. Talking of guaranteed relegation just two games in is plain daft.
Can't understand picking Bellegarde ahead of Andre though or keep starting Munetsi, but have to assume it's not a long term option. If not we are in trouble.

Lopez has been here all pre season so should be fully integrated. Keep saying it we don’t have the luxury like we did 5 years ago for slow integration and easing players in.
Having JRB, MM and Doc getting regular minutes for one tells you we’re way short of the required level.

So what are you saying? Lopez isn't good enough? or VP doesn't know what he's doing?

No he probably will be in time but it’s time we don’t have this is the thing due to the players lost we pretty much need to players to drop in quickly and hit the ground running.
Plus you don’t learn much playing just 18 minutes out of a 180 so far.
To add VP first 2 starting line ups have been very dubious to put it kindly.

We have to remember as well, that whilst we don’t have the number of signings through the door that we all expected/wanted, they’ve let Vítor take a more prominent role in the recruitment and they’ve also bought in his guy in Teti to assist with this. So who’s to blame for the new signings not being good enough, or all looking like huge downgrades on what we had? Eventually some of the blame is going to land at Vítor’s door - especially as he’s the guy picking Munetsi, Bellegarde, Doc, Hoever etc.

Obviously this post is in no shape or form excusing Jeff, Fosun & anyone associated with those absolute wankers, but more highlighting that the honeymoon period is very much over for Vitor.

If you are selling world class players for 60 and 30mill or they're on 100k+ and hoping to replace them spending a lot less, you're going to fail. Especially with our track record.

The recruitment issue predates Vitor's time and then some.

Just look back at the fees the club have brought in and how they've "reinvested" that money to actively downgrade the squad from the halcyon Nuno days to this!

We just don't have a clue and that boils down to how the club have been run and a total lack of direction and strategy.

They (Jeff) have swerved direction several times over, put different people in post with a different remit each time, culminating in the rabble that we now see... dismal stuff and I felt so different only a few months back.

Edit: whilst typing that up EP beats me to the punch...

As you find my post so amusing, @Lycan, I’d love to get your current thoughts on our incoming business as you’ve said a number of times you very much like the look of the profile of our signings so far?

Just to point out, there are several people and posts in this very thread alone questioning the quality of the new players - not just me, before you start making it in to a “stop pant wetting” exercise.
