Coffee

To be clear, I will denounce anybody who drinks that Nescafé shit. 😉

More power to ‘em; I can’t do it anymore, personally (except trashy peppermint flavored “creamers” that I don’t think y’all have?). I downed enough God awful Starbucks espresso at 4:30am that I can get through basically anything black.

Eugh. I shudder at the thought of that espresso. Their blonde is alright, but the “normal” stuff is roasted to shit. Drinking it is a chore.

Don’t get me wrong. These sweet Milkies taste delightful. But I can’t be having that level of calories everytime I want some caffeine and costing me the best part of £5

Gutted to discover that Lavazza Prontissimo Intenso has been discontinued. Time to find a new brand. Illy do an Intenso, may be similar

As I am currently on holiday in the country that markets itself extremely well as producing the best coffee in the world... ;-), I recommend the Juan Valdez branded Volcán coffee. Strong and coming with flavours of caramel and cacao.
¡Vamos Colombia!

Probably a sore subject on here but instant coffee?

I’ve got one of those Bialetti Express jobs and Melitta filter coffee machine which gets wheeled out occasionally for lazy Sunday breakfasts, but tbh can’t be doing with the faff for a general daytime coffee.

I was probably drinking a bit too much so just used to buy the supermarket instant stuff (whichever was on offer), but have cut right down and want to drink less, but better, and keep it simple with instant.

Don’t mind paying a premium as it’ll only be a maximum of two cups per day so any recommendations appreciated.

One coffee site recommended Pilon which I’ve just ordered to give a whirl (looks like it’s Cuban/American so be inetersting to see if it gets shot down by Alan)

Likewise, there might be be some that just say instant = don’t bother, but either way, would like to try and get the best of both worlds (or as close to it as possible).

Lavazza Prontissimo which I mentioned last night is an instant coffee and for me the nicest instant I have found so gutted that it seems to have been discontinued

I’ve been on the strong Illy for years. Nothing else has been near the strength of flavour for me and I love it. The weaker Illy stuff doesn’t compare. All personal taste, but I recommend it.

Thanks mate. I am going to get some this weekend hopefully and give it a try. Like you, has to be the strongest and I have almost 2 spoons of it in each cup

They did something with the branding a few years ago which threw me off track a bit, but I just checked the tin and my regular order is the ‘intenso’ ground stuff. Looks like there might be a ‘forte’ type even stronger, but I don’t remember seeing it as an option in the shops. The intenso is good anyway - not the weaker ‘red’ stuff.
