Everton (H) 23/09 - Carabao Cup R3 Thread

Kreji can use both feet and find a gold shirt with the ball.
I watched the highlights of the Leeds game again today - and Agba was involved in everything good and bad for us. It was quite strange how integral a part he played in the game.

He did some good things during the game. But the bad was WAY outweighing the good. He should have been off at HT.

The crowd were against him and he doesn’t look fit, at all. He’s carrying a problem.

Obviously I want him to turn it around asap it goes without saying, but Saturday was genuinely abysmal.

Mosquera-Agba-Krejci-Bueno

For me at the weekend.

Despite wha to think. I’m willing to give him another chance.

It’s been abit meh for me. If Everton were on it abit more then who knows , couple of poor touches when attacking.
Whilst this is a valid thought, the fact is that they couldn’t ever put it together, and we did.

Everton were definitely on the front foot second half, but they had to be. Game states should be taken more seriously (that’s not aimed at you specifically, Cars).

I would give Agba another try. See how he performs with someone more competent.
He needs taking out of the firing line ASAP.

If his name was Ronald Zubar we’d be losing our minds. He has been terrible, and you know I hate to be that blunt about our own players.

I know, I`m just hankering for a bit of last season` s form. I would give Johnstone another chance also.

A number of things i didn't expect tonight!

Didn't expect 4 at the back
Didn't expect a clean sheet
Didn't expect to win
Didn't expect to enjoy watching it

After a series of bad results, it's always a worry whether the manager is losing the dressing room, but it didn't look like it tonight.
I know football fan moods swing wildly depending on the result, but beyond the win, i thought there were some encouraging things that hopefully we can build on going forward.
Thought pretty much everyone other than Hwang did well.
Andre was quality in midfield, we really need him in the team and on form
Krejci looked good in the back line
Arias looked better, did well for the first goal.

Away to Spurs is a bit daunting for the weekend, will be interesting to see if VP sticks to the new shape or reverts back.

No i get ya. On the whole we defended very well, and weren’t ’cut through’

Just felt some of their shooting was wayward when in semi decent positions, and towards the end one specific example it’s played to right side of the box and there lad takes a really heavy touch.

Granted, we also had a couple of instances, was it bellegarde at end of first half for example when we broke?

It all woulda, shoulda, coulda. Could tell we were a team low on confidence.

If you’re looking at a way to get our supposed best players on the pitch, in a system then you’re going 4 atb. Will help get players closer to Tolu if he’s starting as well.

4231/433 for me. Maybe Mosq at right back as he can sit back and tuck in if needs be etc, not as if we have an abundance of full back quality (even with 2 new ones brought in)…

I enjoyed the game, which tbh surprised me. After the debarkle of Saturday and when I saw it was Doc at RB with Santi at RCB I expected the worst. Thought we started well and matched Everton in the first half, we didn't seem under that much pressure at the back.
Second half after Beto and Grealish came on it was backs to the wall but we didn't really panic imo and just about coped (a little bit of fortune at times).
What a lovely finish by Tolu, didn't know he had that in him.
Doc and the Bueno twins played well, Krejci was very good. Calm, organised, got his tackles in and good on the ball.
Hwang and Munetsi clearly aren't footballers but you can't complain at their effort and attitude. Beloegarde also ran his bollocks of, got his challenges in, moved the ball forward well at times, if only he could time and deliver a pass consistently he'd be genuinely useful.
Was interested by Arias, had more of the ball in the first 10 minutes than in all his previous performances put together. Didn't create a whole lot but kept the ball moving tidily. His twist and shot that lead to the first goal was excellent. Second half he got through a mountain of work and did his defensive duties well.
Not Larsens best game, spent a lot of time wrestling with Tarkowski and did OK, held the ball up on a number of occasions, sometimes got it to a team mate, other times there was not another Wolves player near him.
Andres best game this season?
Subs all worked well.
Good to hear Vitors name ringing out.
It's nice to win a game. My grandsons record so far, games attended 2, wins 2, goals for 5, goals against 2.

Great to see a win again and a few good performances. Thought Johnstone had another decent outing to follow up the one at Newcastle and deserves to keep his place, Krejci is looking the part and should be captain and Santi Bueno is looking better than at other times previously in his Wolves career. Andre back to his best in midfield, hopefully he's ok for Spurs. Munetsi isn't great but seems a lovely fella and took his goal well. Thought Arias looked more like the player we were expecting, a great effort in the build up to Munetsi's goal and as for Tolu's, wow, a beauty with a nice piece of movement and perfect dink over Travers. Hwang was dogshit again.

It is the cup but against decent PL opposition so great to win again, to score a couple of goals and keep a clean sheet.

Hopefully we can start finding some form in the league again. Great hearing the Vitor tunes and seeing him enjoying the moment at the end, I really want him to succeed.
