General Wolves News

Wow. Thats embarrassing.
People love the guy, rightfully so.

Should it have been in this kind of bracket? Probably not; keep it to on-pitch IMV. But I'm not surprised nor particularly bothered that people are voting for it. In a lot of ways he's the face of the first step up we made under Fosun.

What he has or hasn't done since is completely spurious to me, and holding the Saudi move against him is the graspiest of straw grasping IMO.

Most clubs return for pre-season training in the first week of July - that’s just over a week away. So it looks like any hope of getting a few signings through the door before the players return are already out the window.

Given we all agree we need a huge rebuild this summer, I’d say we’re already behind where we need to be (and still haven’t had an answer from Semedo - although it’s clear he’s winding his contract down to leave).

Now you’ve got the manager airing his concerns before he’s even got back from his all inclusive summer holiday.

When Johnny Phillips said “the penny has dropped” with regard to Fosun, I almost stupidly believed it!

Have to say this but you always seem so negative about the club. The season is weeks away. Plenty of time to recruit.

Everyone has access to a calendar so we all know when the season starts, that's not the point.

It's a pattern of behavior that's been repeated several times over that's concerning and each and every time there will be people saying "calm your horses" only to see the exact same situation play out.

Wolves are a ways off being were they need to be and that's a real concern.

And so it begins. VP is clearly making his feelings known in public and that pretty much tells you he doesn’t think there is plenty of time.

We got our sales done early and that gave us the opportunity to get at least some of our recruitment done ready for pre season training. In the past I’ve taken the view there is plenty of time but you’ve got to be a blind optimist to think we’ll do anything but the bare minimum and hope Leeds don’t show some ambition and recruit with a view to staying up rather than for likely relegation.

Everything is fine, this time the club/Fosun will do the right thing. How can everyone be so negative? 🙃

Is the club really so stupid as to think we can repeat this cycle of losing a good manager, appointing an idiotic yes man, stumbling on someone decent to keep us up and then losing them all over again? This will be the third time and the squad keeps getting lighter and weaker. Finding Pereira was very lucky, we can't keep doing this.

If this was a one-off you could make the argument for it's only June but this has happened before and more than once, they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Realistically to avoid a relegation battle we need a bare minimum of two forwards and two wing backs. Even that would leave us very reliant on key players staying fit as the cover will remain the likes of Hwang, Guedes, Traore and the two Buenos. Compare this with Bournemouth who got Kerkes’ replacement in within a week.

The fact is that we’ve avoided relegation twice in three years by appointing a manager who knows his arse from his elbow and getting a competent centre half in, firstly Dawson then Agbadou. Cutting it so fine means that only a little bad luck, be it VAR, injuries or a couple of unfortunate deflections, and we’ll go down. We have the opportunity to recruit a significant portion of a squad that VP wants and he’s beginning to doubt it will happen. Very disappointing to say the least.

Pretty sure that quote came near the end of last season. Regardless, it is 22 June and the only Prem team who has done anything significant is Man City. We are on track with all other clubs having signed one player so far. A lot of players are on holiday while others are still playing in tournaments around the globe. If people want to pant wet that's up to them.

We’re on track with all other clubs as much as we are in terms of benchmarking our ticket prices.

You have to look at the starting position of each club before you start comparing.

We’ve sold our top goalscorer and top assister from last season (have any other clubs done that?) and currently recruited one player. A young lad who looks a top prospect but isn’t necessarily a guaranteed starter.

Take your head out of the sand and stop arguing for the sake of arguing. Also, we have this “pant wetting” comment fired off every summer every time people air concerns. It’s tedious. And how’s it worked out over the last few years?

You do you, though.

No other club has lost their two most influential players from an attacking viewpoint. We’ve also lost Semedo and Sarabia who both made significant contributions last year. That’s nearly half of our outfield players! Add in the fact that other squad players such as Hwang, Guedes, Traore and Bueno are not up to the required standard and we need to get moving. As I said earlier I used to take a relaxed attitude thinking there would be plenty of time yet time and again we’ve drifted along and failed to bring in the players needed to keep us clear of a relegation battle.

He's not really said enough in that interview to make me worry, or at least not worry any more than I already was.

You'd have to be a fool to take Fosun at their word after all they've done recently. The 'penny has dropped' comment by Phillips was encouraging but Fosun need to go out and prove it now.

As for the timeline, it's still very early and López is a good start. This summer has been strange because of the business clubs were doing pre CWC but I think you'll start to see business slowing down now until July and the new accounting period. In an ideal world we'd have 4 or 5 new players in before the first day of pre season training but that was never going to happen even if we were spending mega bucks.
