Is Vitor Pereira A Good Manager Or Should He Go?

I think he's an ok manager, good enough to keep us up with a decent squad - like last season. He's been dealt a shit hand though - load of expectation on Arias to be the game changer but he's fucked.

Is he still out for a pint after every game? Has he got the balls to take the rough with the smooth?

Yep I'm in agreement that not many managers keep us up. Pereira is OK as a coach, he did a good job to keep us up last year and got some good results but him having more of a chance to stamp his vision on the squad and get his own players in is actually making us worse. On that basis if we are going to have any chance or sign anybody in January I'd rather he not be here still by then.

Makes you wonder why on earth we gave a new contract? I doubt we're winning either of the next two so who is surviving this kind of run, even the preseason was almost all defeats. Probably takes a change of coach to have any hope of getting out of this habit of losing.

He's vastly underperforming, and there's nothing in his career to suggest he can turn a bad situation around at his club.

I can't fucking believe he have him a new deal in a run like this. If he's not gone by November then we've got no chance of staying up

He clearly has some good qualities as a manager/coach as he showed when he came in. We all wondered why his career has gone the way it has. It seems without the quality we had last season he can't cope in the heat of a Premier league.
I hate to say it but he needs to go. He won't of course (not yet anyway) but God knows who comes in.
The continued poor running of the club by the top people is coming home to roost this season.

I went today, so I'll have my 2p worth on this thread. What you don't do as a competent football club is after 6 months throw out your footballing structure and shove it all behind someone who had a career of 12-18months at clubs and then leaving for whatever reason. That's what we did when we binned Hobbs for Vitor's mate. It's an unserious decision made by an unserious football club.

We've signed a bunch of athletes with limited ability and that's on the manager and his mate. As much as I dislike Shi, we've spent north of £100m on players none of which make the first 11 better, one of which didn't even make the 20 today. Should he go...yes, will he no, because of the ridiculous contract, would it make a difference either way no, we're done and boy do we deserve it.

We wouldn't have accepted that off Lage or O'Neil and they both operated with greater constraints than we're told and know Vitor has, i.e his mate having a job.

It's a tangled mess between Jeff Shi's hubris and Vitor's underperformance but I think once you seperate the two Vitor is still miles off where he should be.

We had a better structure in his first game at Leicester than we do now, 10 months later. How is that possible? This isn't players who can't play a system, this is players who don't know what the system is, and that's wholly on the manager.

I like him as a fella and thanks for last season, but I'd sack him after that to be honest.

He’s crap.

Tactically inept, got lucky last season and has a CV that shows he manages crap sides and never does very well at any of them.

All that pints and pub stuff was cringeworthy last year.

Looks even worse now.

It’s exactly the same as GON - got lucky with a few results but then we all saw that we had a fraud.

And, like GON, he is massively underachieving with the squad at his disposal.

We don’t have one of the three worst squads in the PL.

I think we might to be honest.

Sa is our best keeper and he is fucking dreadful.

Tchatchoua looks worse than Zubar.

Toti is in the Rob Edwards/Neill Collins "honest trier" bracket of centre halves. He's our captain.

I wasn't joking earlier when I called Hugo Bueno a shit Lee Naylor.

Agbadou has fallen off a cliff.

Rodrigo Gomes and Fer Lopez look like U14s playing in a men's league.

Munetsi is an appalling footballer.

Bellegarde might be the most nothing footballer I've ever seen.

Matt fucking Doherty is still here as we approach 2026.

Bad owners, bad manager, bad players, and a bad culture around the club that starts at the top. What do you expect of players when the ownership makes it clear that the club is nothing more than a rung on the ladder? If the club ownership accepts mediocrity (and we aren't even that), then it is hardly earth shattering that the players serve up mediocrity and worse.

But the manager doesn't have a clue how to actually instill a culture, identity and heart within the players, the absolute tenet of Nuno's time. He should be sacked, but the thought of what disastrous appointment Shi makes next boggles the mind. At present we look like we could be the first team in PL history to not even get to a double digit points total.

He's a firefighter. Comes in, instills some structure, wins a few games and then a well run club gives him a handshake and a payoff whilst bringing in a manager who can build a team.

Chris Wilder has been in charge at Sheffield United, got sacked, had 3 months off and is back in charge at the same club in the same timeframe since we picked up a point ( and since villa scored a league goal)
Think Vitor has to go, it’s not just this seasons games, there’s last seasons form as well.
Way to go Jeff on giving him a big new contract, just costs us more to sack him, and gives Jeff his excuse of there’s no money for signings

I'll stick my neck out and say we do, I think you can only really make an argument for Burnley or Leeds being worse than ours, and one of those two beat us comprehensively today. Maybe West Ham although I think they have an overall better squad (just about) and a lot of their misery looks to be on Potter. Even Burnley look more organised than we do, they've been in most of the games they lost except Tottenham. We have a few decent players like Andre, Gomes, Strand Larsen but they're not by themselves matchwinners and we are too much without identity or organisation to be an ok squad.
