Is Vitor Pereira A Good Manager Or Should He Go?

Vitor was having a go back at the South Bank after the game. Which shows how he's lost the plot.
Strand Larsen tried to calm things- took balls to approach a toxic crowd imo, but repeatedly said "we need you".
Vitor was confrontational. I get that's him, but he made a bad situ worse.

The club have taken the piss for 5 years, we lost the bulk of our talent in the summer, replaced it with inadequates and the manager doesn't know what he wants his team to do. Hardly a surprise we're rooted to the bottom and losing to all the promoted clubs.

He should be reflecting on his own role in this shitshow rather than fronting up to long-suffering and actually pretty tolerant fans

“Two months ago they sang my name, but now I understand without results... it’s football. Now they sing my name to sack me. This is football. If I was a supporter, I would feel proud of my team because they worked and showed the mentality, ambition and spirit to win.”

I used to cut metal for a job, I was great cutting more then others to the centimetre, that was until I absolutely botched a major contract and sadly got the sack for it. You can try all you like but continuing to botch contracts will end up in tears.

I genuinely don't believe Vitor is that interested in the job, that's certainly the impression I've got so far this season.

If the run of results, performances and now having a go at the fans dont get him sacked I dont know what will.

Looks pretty clear that VP in the short term can get a tune out of players that don’t know him but as time goes by he falls out with one after another and when he’s fallen out with most of the players it’s time to start on the fans. He should be packing his bags tonight.

I mean seriously how long has VP been in football? He knows full well he’s actually getting a much easier ride here with the fans than a lot of places he’s managed.
Smells of deflection tactics and making the story about the fans not the shambles on the field he’s overseeing. He shouldn’t be here for Wednesday but will be.
Everything about the club currently isn’t PL standard, the board-recruitment-coaching-players. The only thing that is pl standard is the prices.

Indeed. More fool us for giving him the keys to run the club and then giving him a long term contract. A smart club does not do either of these things. A really smart club says thank you at the end of the season and gives him a nice pay off

Not defending Hwang but that pair are fucking shit. Don't dress them up as positives, they aren't.
They at least tried, and seemed to be the only partnership we had. They looked to move forwards, & also covered each others roles.
Neither are the finished article. Both have much to improve in their games but that left hand side was the only bright spark I've seen the past 2 weeks. & Vitor actively broke that partnership up.

Good managers develop partnerships across the pitch, they don't dismantle them.

It's entirely possible that Rodrigo and Hugo are about as good as they're ever going to be

They're both crap.

Bueno can't defend for shit and has very little end product going forward. Rodrigo has some technical ability but is just so, so weak and again, where are the numbers in terms of output.

I wouldn't be clutching at those straws. As Punts said in the matchday thread, we had Bakary Sako in League One and he was absolutely miles better than Rodrigo Gomes.

I think it is only hindsight that says we should have said thanks and bye in May. Giving him a new contract on the other hand was madness and I think everyone said so at the time.

Going to war with the fans ends one way, telling people to be happy because the players had a good do and tried to win erm so your telling us to happy and grateful for the bare minimum required.
With what’s happened today Jeff should be shitting his pants massively.

Oh I agree no one would have said that at the time, certainly not us fans.

But other clubs like Bournemouth and Brighton have been smart enough to do that

I guess there was a pretty solid body of evidence that his shelf life at a club is usually about the same as a cabbage.

It is just 38 days since Pereira signed a new three-year contract and sources have told BBC Sport he is not in immediate danger.

Shi and those in charge still feel his experience will be crucial in the survival battle, having taken them from second bottom to safety last season. Although, predecessor O'Neil signed a four-year deal on the eve of last season and only lasted another four months.

Domenico Teti's arrival as director of professional football in the summer is also a sign of the position of strength Pereira held at the end of last season, the pair having worked together in Saudi Arabia at Al-Shabab.

There is a hesitancy to change given the amount of managers the club have gone through recently and fan reaction will not sway Shi.
