The first legal advisor needs to be questioned under oath.
If he got it wrong he made an unprofessional mistake, or was just a bit thicker than he thought he was. If she acted on this LEGAL advice, how the fuck would she know.

Where have I suggested otherwise. I am happy to give her the benefit of the doubt until there is reason not to because I have a high degree of empathy with the personal circumstances she has had to deal with and no actual evidence of wrong doing.

When we inevitably have to set up seperate arrangements for our son that put his care and welfare in the hands of others we will be reliant on seeking and receiving good advice from people we expect to know the law. We will have to consider the ownership of our home and whether it should be placed in a Trust in similar arrangements to Rayner. In addition, we will.have to consider our other children and their future wellbeing.

While you and others lay into her as "just another politician" she has spent the last few years ensuring her family are looked after in a complicated legal arrangement.

I'm pretty certain that it will boil down that the situation was in the "it's maybe a bit dodgy but we'll probably get away with it" area, having read and listened to a few bits and bobs today and yesterday. There's no way that she wasn't aware that the first/second home rates were different, and that there were reasonable perspectives for landing on either position for the flat in Hove. There will of course be dozens of far more egregious acts of fraud committed every month by the fuckers in Westminster, but I don't think it's a fair or reasonable argument to say 'I took advice and had no idea that this advice was potentially incorrect', it's just not credible imo.

There's two levels to this, the personal and the political. I'm sympethic on the whole but setting policy you don't follow, whoever does it, is either untenable or hypocritical and will cause even more distrust in the system.
