Keir Starmer at it again..

There is no "left v right" in America. It's right v far right

you hear trump time and time again banging on about the radical left as if the democrats were some kind of bolshevik cabal, it's insane. sadly it's also a successful propaganda tool intended to get traction with anyone with a tendency to oppose anything portrayed as 'left', irrespective of the truth. i think it works well in the US because they are highly indoctrinated but a good proportion of the population are on that path over here too.

Kier Starmer:

To change Britain, we must change ourselves — we need to clean up politics. No more VIP fast lanes, no more kick-backs for colleagues, no more revolving doors between government and the companies they regulate. I will restore standards in public life with a total crackdown on cronyism

Also Kier Starmer:

Did they win those contracts because of the donations, or because they were the best bidders?

Should companies that donate to political parties be banned from bidding on government contracts to avoid the perception of cronyism?

Yes, 100%

I find the whole idea of political donations odd anyway, it's bribery

I did like this though:

A Conservative spokesperson said the party is funded by membership, fundraising and donations declared to the Electoral Commission and fully compliant with the law. They said the alternative “would be more taxpayer funding or being in the pocket of union barons like the current government”.
Rare to see a mention of 'Union barons' in the wild nowadays. Like being back in the 1970s.
