Live Match Discussion 2024/25

Just found the Brazil game is live here on SBS. Might as well settle down and watch it I suppose.
I'm watching the USA getting trounced by Switzerland... 4-0 after 36 mins.... Poch out will soon be the chant... late call for Tottingham perhaps? :)

First half of Brazil was appalling apart from a cracking assist by Cunha for Vini's goal, and that doesn't make me smile any more.

Says everything about where I stand on the national team that I didn’t even realise we were playing at the weekend. I think when I saw the squad release and some of the names included within it, I immediately blocked it from my mind.

I did sit down with a beer last night and watch the first half - but woke up on the sofa with something else playing, so missed the entire second half. Glanced at my phone to see we lost 3-1 - the first time an England side has lost to an African team, apparently.

I genuinely have little to no interest in it & seemingly nor do the players. It’s also a ridiculous time for a fixture. The players are at the end of a long season, and most of them have the club World Cup coming up. They’re human and need a break.

Re; the national press. A lot of ‘fans’ saying they’ve seen enough of Tuchel’s England already - but before last night they were going with the “England haven’t conceded under him” line.

I hate this time of year for football, unless there's a major tournament on. I'm 'footballed out' from the season and I can't muster any enthusiasm for qualifiers or friendlies. But that also means I can't be too bothered when we don't play well either. No point making any proper judgement on Tuchel until he's had a decent number of games in the appropriate setting against appropriate opposition.

I wouldn't be fawning over the performances/results if we'd tanked them 8-0, so a defeat in a meaningless friendly against Senegal played in Nottingham in June with a depleted squad isn't going to sway my opinion on Tuchel either way.

I'm quite interested in the U21 Euros which start today. Slovenia Vs Spain at 5pm today which could involve Hugo Bueno (or Gerard Martín), France Vs Portugal at 8pm which could be a good game and then England's first game against Czechia at 8pm tomorrow. I think all the games are on Channel 4, their sister channels or their YouTube channel as well.

Agree about post season friendlies, for both Club & Country. Just a waste of time. Won't be watching any of this Club World Cup shite either. Hopefully it completely ruins Chelsea & Man City's seasons and it never happens again.

The qualifying schedule meant that we had to have a game and having Andorra meant that the end of season lethargy problem was prevented from a points winning perspective.
I’m glad we had the friendly last night, it showed the manager who isn’t up to the task and it broke the never being beaten by an African nation record. I’d sooner that has happened in a friendly rather than in a World Cup game. It could have happened many times over the years, it was always going to happen and if it wasn’t for late Steve Bull equaliser it would have been done 35 years ago.

Literally watched 90 seconds of the CWC coverage on Five (who are using the standard DAZN coverage) and immediately turned it off when the DAZN shill they have on said this was the first time we've had the chance to find the best club team in the world. Nope! It's the first it's been turned into an overblown attempted massive cash cow for FIFA which no one is bothering to turn up to watch.

Stadium for the opening match is half empty. And the prick they have hosting is comparing it to the super bowl.

Thought I'd at least give this Club World cup bollocks a look, turns out I tuned into what is likely to be the most one sided game in history. Once Bayeetn went 4 up in about the 21st minute I started reading my book.
What a completely terrible waste of time this series is.

This would be like putting Kidderminster up against Bayern and I’m probably doing Kiddi a disservice.
Complete money making fabrication of a competition.
Yes it is. To us. Speaking to a photographer media friend of mine who was in Miami yesterday, he reckoned that there were 60,000 there and around 80% were supporting the Egyptians Al Ahly. He said it was a good atmosphere and the game was half decent. This game with Bayern is a bit of an embarrassment though but everyone will go home happy as it's extra money for everyone involved.
