North Korea

North Korean claims to have tested a hydrogen bomb are being doubted. South Korea say it was an atomic bomb. China's response will be interesting.

Beijing formally protested, expressed concern over radioactive fallout in areas bordering North Korea, and indicated it would support new, punitive UN security council action as demanded by South Korea, among others.

They don't actually want a power vacuum on their doorstep with potentially the south and therefore American army being at their border and an influx of refugees.

China aren't exactly happy with N Korea but quite what they are prepared to do I'm not sure.

It's a buffer state.
Looney, but a buffer all the same.

Yep, whilst China is trying to increase their power in the Pacific region, allowing a State that is Hostile to America collapse and give the US a foot hold on their border would undermine all of that. Whilst China has ambitions for Military prowess, North Korea will be allowed to remain, albeit I should imagine they will be looking for them to toe the line a bit more in future.

Would suspect that the Chinese authorities have a better idea of what is going on in N Korea than anyone else & how far gone Kim Jong Un is.

Unlikely that they will tell anyone else what action they would take if needed, but would think that they will do what they need to protect their interests - they won't want him pushing buttons on missiles any more than the rest of us do

Despite being told not to, North Korea has launched a long range missile. The USA and South Korea have requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. Even Russia has condemned North Korea's actions. Silence so far from China though.

With the United Nations unable to secure World peace and war breaking out constantly in various regions of the World why should some nations hold a nuclear deterrent while others are not allowed too.

Fair comment, but do you think North Korea would use nuclear power as a deterrent? Or would they launch an attack against the South?

I wouldn't trust either side with nuclear bombs, or the likes of Russia and America who support each side.
Perhaps we have to unilaterally remove the likes of Trident before others look at us and think they have to be much the same.

Yes, because disarmament has a long history of success against despotic dictators

Im deeply worried about north korea and their nuclear/biological weapons...moreso than isis

DPRK have neither the resources nor the infrastructure to seriously threaten anyone outside of Asia. And even then, it's not a threat that is at all sustainable.

Too much is being made of this, IMO.
