Shrewsbury 2 - 2 Wolves: The Verdict

I've said it before but I still think Costa has something left over from his injury. He just hasn't been the same player, we all know how good he can be but he just isn't performing at the levels we know he can

Front two with Costa, both were very poor but Adama was probably the worse of the pair. Put one 10 yards over from 10 yards out.

I didn't see it that way. Traore was way more involved and contributing more than Costa.

Replay on the 5th or 6th then? Not ideal.

Seeing some on other forums slating Cav, thought he got an assist for our first, was he that bad?

Dunno what they were watching, thought he did well after he came on, had a huge role in Raul's goal.

This nonsense of pretending we don't need more players and are good enough needs to stop.

That's what Nuno wants though, about 20+ kids. With Hause gone and Bonatini as good as we are a couple light, but that's all. If we were to make the EL we'd need to have a large summer recruitment/play kids or we'll be blowing out or our arses by Xmas.

Not going to comment on the game as I've not seen it, but our now favoured formation works as it gets the best out of Jota and Raul. We don't have anything behind them to play it so shouldn't

Costa was just anonymous.

We should look to get him a loan to see some weak league overseas to see if he can get it back. He should be nowhere near this team if he is not going to try and shit out of any 50/50

Replay doesn’t really matter. Will be 6 changes or whatever and we will win.

Agree. Costa's first involvement was the penalty shout, and that was, what, the 15th minute? He had legitimately done nothing up to that point.

Dude that is crazy

Can't remember anything Costa did at all first half. Id be surprised if he ever gets back to the player he once was now, its been a long time since the injury.

Costa can't go on like this, when we bought him, I as many other did thought he was a steal, now I think we'll lose money on him.

I wish I had the answer to why he has spiralled down or maybe he had his purple patch and this is the real Helder.

He's probably got about six sub outings to avoid being shipped out in the summer.

That front 3 was very odd, two wingers and then MGW as a false nine. Hardly surprising we didn't do much.

If Bonatini is on his way out we need someone to come in

I don't want to get too super negative because for sure we could pick the bones out of that one for a while. First, fair play to Shrewsbury as they gave it a decent go, didn't really create what you'd call clear chances but once they got their noses in front they did a good job of keeping us at arms length. Their second was an excellent corner as well.

Doc played well in fits and spurts, was certainly our biggest threat 1st half. Traore kept plugging away and once he went wide right, as DW said, he picked up. To be fair (and I realise this has its own thread) his supporters will tell you that's where he should play, and it seems that is correct. But, as DW also said, it doesn't fit what we're doing right now. So he's going to have to adapt if he wants game time as we can't build around one player who is, to be kind, inconsistent. Raul and Cav looked lively when they came on.

The rest of it...oof. I'll keep it brief and say I don't want Saiss in the back 3 anytime after Tuesday as his penchant for going to ground scares the bejesus out of me. Neves looked like he was trying to stroll through the game and it didn't happen. Costa...I don't even know anymore. It's like things came so easily to him before and now they don't, but he's not willing to work to make things happen. So you have a player who doesn't try but doesn't have enough natural ability to get by without doing so...which is basically the worst of both worlds. Makes it worse since we know what he can do. Maybe he needs a fresh start.
I agree wi all this 100%

I think Traore and Costa were both shite, but at least Traore tried to make something happen, even if he's limited in thinking. Costa was just woeful, his #headzgone

He is mentally and physically weak unfortunately. And no signs of improvement so far this season.

It is weird because he was hugely bulked up at the start of the season. I definitely think it’s a mental thing rather than a physical thing. I’m sure we have someone looking at the psychological needs of the squad though don’t we?

Traore was much better second half, had his fullback on toast and created loads of pressure. Won a fair few corners and put decent crosses in

Just relieved to still be in it after that. I understand squad rotation but we’re comfortable in mid table and can afford to go full pelt at this. For me play side that started last week and we’d have won today.

Have yet to see him win any 50 50 that I can rememver. Gets knocked off the ball far far too easily. Traore also guilty tbf but Helder is even worse.
