The NFL Thread

@Dire Wolf

Don’t look now, but Jozy Altidore is a minority owner of Buffalo.

The Pegulas do have the only controlling stake, tho.
He has zero input into the organisation. Whatever absolute zero is, that's his involvement. The Pegula's own and run the Bills.

The story of what has happened to Kim Pegula is actually pretty sad. She originally had more say in the day to day running than Terry, but she had a heart attack out of nowhere and basically lost a lot of cognitive function as a result. It happened the same year as Damar Hamlin I think, so is one of the big factors behind the Bills organisation doing a lot of work promoting basic CPR skills and putting defibrillators in the local community.

The Pegula's bought the Bills when Ralph Wilson died. Pop quiz: their bid beat out another consortium - who were the 2 people at the head of the other consortium? (And trust me, for all I'm not a big fan of how the Pegula family made their billions, I'm thankful every day that the other bid didn't win).

I know the Pegulas are the only ones calling the shots, I said as much. I just thought it was funny that Jozy Altidore, of all ex-footballers, is in the group that bought the minority stake back in December.

The Pegulas seem decent as million/billionaires go.

They do, but they made their money from fracking which is pretty shit.

Without googling it, and with a fxcked up memory, wasn't Jon Bon Jovi interested in owning the Bills? And I wouldn't be surprised if mango mussolini himself didn't try to get involved at some point.

Yup, a Trump/Bon Jovi consortium tried to buy them and their plan was to move the team out of Buffalo.

Moving the Bills might have gone down even more poorly than the Colts infamous midnight move out of Baltimore.

It’s bizarre. There isn’t an iota in my mind that says Rodgers and Tomlin can work well together.

Yep can't see Tomlin being a fan of all the off field baggage he brings and that's before you get to Rodgers being a major weirdo.

The fact that they've allowed him to fuck them around for the last two month reeks of the desperation that potentially having Mason Rudolph as your starting QB brings.

Steelers first game is at the Jets which will add some extra spice to that one.

It's an odd match apart from the fact that it's a QB desperate for a team and a team desperate for a QB.

Nick Chubb signing with Texans subject to medical tomorrow. A more incentive based deal than other teams offered - so he must feel confident that he can stay fit.

We seem to have strengthened everywhere except for the one area that most needed it - the O-line. Defence was good last season, looks even better now. Two top RBs who will cause problems even if they are both past their prime. Receivers have more strength in depth. New OC will give Stroud more freedom, the big if being O-line giving him time and stopping the sacks.

Perhaps not quite at Bills/Ravens level, but getting closer. Again - IF the O-line holds. Otherwise winning the worst division in the NFL is a challenge.

That line will be an issue, I just hope DeMeco doesn’t pay the price for it.

DeMeco is safe. Players love him, fans love him. Whether they have a winning 2025 or not, I fully expect greater focus on protecting Stroud in 2026, and the Texans to become a legitimate superbowl contender.
