Biggest benefit is you won’t have as many many bare beer guts walking around smashed with their arms in the air singing “England till I die”
Did you see the Newcastle fans in Southampton on Sunday? Mind you, the South Coast is probably relatively tropical compared to the North East

I said “as many” you’ll still get some

I’m really interested to see what squad Gaz Lage conjure up in an hour.

No Gomes or Tomori according to twitter. He’ll have Mings and Coady instead.

No Toney or Ward-Prowse either

Toney is a daft omission. Gaz’s picks feel very end of days stuff.

Oatley making a fool of herself on twitter - saying Gaz fell out w/Maddison in U21s. Gaz left in 2016 and Maddison made his debut in 2017

I think Wilson and Abraham will be his forwards along with Kane.
Wilson is huge risks as he’s made of rich tea’s close to a cupper.

Wowsers it stems back to him pulling out of a squad then been seen in a Casino hours later.
Gaz just doesn’t fancy him at all,

Didn't he pull out of an England squad with illness and then was pictured out either at a club or casino?

EDIT - beaten to it by TT and JD !

He’s in anyway apparently.

More fucking leaky than a Thames water pipe the FA

Maddison is in.

No Gomez, Tomori or Guehi. He's going to bring Mings back, isn't he.

My interest in international football has waned massively in the last 20 years. I still go to some games at Wembley [although the stadium and crowd is generally poor there but we all know that] and the very occasional away game now, as opposed to many of them previously. I used to love the build up and anticipation of international games but a combination of meaningless money making friendlies and managers giving out caps in them like they'd been won in a tombola really devalued the honour. It used to be the pinnacle of a players career, much like an FA Cup Final domestically, but was reduced to such an extent that people like Michael Rickets and Jay Bothroyd are now full internationals. Imagine how the likes of Jimmy Case, Billy Bonds, Steve Bruce, Steve Perryman etc. feel? [P.S. I know Perryman's 'cap' was eventually awarded and so he too became a full international but in reality it was a 'B' game when he played it and would have felt as such].

All of that said, once it starts [and other than tentatively looking at flight and ticket prices many, many months ago I haven't really noticed it round the corner] I will be engaged and will embrace it. We should be far better than we are performing and other countries would look at our squad and make us one of the four favourites. With a more tactically astute manager and without the handbrake and misplaced player loyalty we would be many peoples fancy. Our 'squad' is, on paper, the best in the tournament. Even with Southgate and the limitations he brings the squad, we are very capable of winning it.

England defence is just riddled with bomb scares everywhere. If Pickford is injured who has his moments the thought of Pope makes you shudder.

I'd sooner go for Henderson and Ramsdale than Pope.

Pickford, Pope, Ramsdale

Trippier, Walker, TAA, Shaw

Stones, Maguire, White, Coady, Mings/Dier

Rice, Bellingham, Henderson, Phillips, Mount, Maddison

Saka, Foden, Sterling, Grealish

Kane, Rashford, Wilson

Gomez, Tomori, Guehi, James, Chilwell, JWP, Bowen, Toney all confirmed to be missing out.

I've switched Phillips in for Gallagher, after his re-appearing act last night. I agree he'll go now - I didn't realise he was nearly fit again.

That leaves one space in the above - Tammy, Gallagher or the other from Dier/Mings looks most likely.
