The Road to World Cup 2026 and UEFA Nations League

I'm registered for tickets next year, not concerned which game, one to cross off the list so to speak How early did you buy tickets in the past
You taking in a game in Mexico or sticking with the States?

The US or Canada mate. From Edinburgh, we can fly to most of the east coast venues directly, including Toronto. I get a game, she gets a cruise. Not sure how fair that is but hey ho.

I do regret not going to any Euro 96 games now. They were surprisingly poorly attended (apart from England and Scotland obviously) and Villa Park and the City Ground were right there. I was only 15 but I was more than capable of watching Wolves lose in various craphouses on my own, I could have gone.

Only tournament I’ve been was at Wembley when I went to Italy v Austria in the 2021 euros. I did not think I was watching the tournament winners in that game!

The Women's World Cup in 2 years is being held in Brazil. I'm very, very tempted...

Other than the odd game or two at more recent tournaments, the tournaments where I followed England in every game were 30 years ago. Ticketing was different then and wasn’t always necessary in advance

Please tell me you did Euro 92 :D

Does anyone on here have experience of going to a major tournament?
I went to Euro 2016 and Euro 2024, so have some experience of it. It depends what you're going for really - for example are you after a specific team or just wanting to get a match in a specific city? I know the UEFA process a lot better but typically what happens is that each country will have an allocation (per match) which is set by the governing body. The only way to get those is through that country's FA, and like with Wolves you'd usually need an attendance history. Some countries are more competitive than others, think England and Scotland are quite challenging although I know a mate who goes away with Wales - theirs sound much easier to get to.

There is then an amount that should go to a sort of general sale which is balloted, you apply in advance based on the fixture - you'll know the date and venue but most of the time not the teams (draw not made/qualifiers not finished). Later on, closer to the tournament (and even during if you're already out there) there should be second sales where everything is on general sale, usually the higher category/more expensive tickets.

I think because of it being in North America and the cost, a lot of countries will struggle to sell their full allocations. I'm probably not going to go for that reason and know quite a few who go away in Europe but are giving World Cup a miss. I think there will probably be quite a few tickets available at pretty short notice if you feel daring.

Thank you - I was thinking this might be the case in terms of tickets. Not overly concerned regarding watching England or Scotland (assuming they get there!), was planning to wait until December's draw and then choose a city. Part of me thinks stay in a non-tournament city like Chicago, knowing how easy it is to get a flight elsewhere for a night. It's high cost though, hotels are already extortionate and will only get worse.
I'd rather not watch North Korea Vs New Zealand, but it ticks a box

Nice 5-0 win for Italy against Estonia to kick off Rino Gattuso’s reign, 2 goals for one time Wolves target Matteo Retegui
