The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I think the funny thing is everyone everyone agrees with each other and are on the same side. IMO some are going in with two feet over small things which then detracts from the wider point.

There’s one person I can think of who “defends the club” and that’s Squeak and he’s on a wind up.

The transfer policy/activity historically and currently has been/is shit, and there’s plenty to have a go at. Everyone’s agreeing there. But throwing toys at the pram because random Spanish bloke has joined Atleti instead isn’t the one.

I wouldn't say the transfer policy has been shit (Cunha, Strand Larsen, Gomes, Andre, Agabdou) but it is inconsistent and for too many windows, gaping holes have been left gaping.

We probably lose out on many more players than we hear about and I doubt it has much to do with getting things done early. If a player's agent is aware, or is pushing, for a move then it would be remiss of them not to have options for their player. If a player has a choice, they won't always choose Wolves.

The communication from the club is not transparent, they say things without any substance too often. However, you don't stay in the Premier League if your transfer policy is without merit and whether by design or by accident Fosun have recruited some of the most talented footballers many of us will ever have seen in a Wolves shirt.

So we've reached the stage where supporting my club is a "wind up."

Attempting to see things from a different point of view and accepting that all clubs of our size have difficulty recruiting quality players is what I'm "guilty" of if anything.

I'm not defending Fosun / Shi or anyone else employed at Molineux in the higher echelons but to say our transfer policy is shit is nonsense IMO. We have purchased some really good players and developed them into better players. We have sold several for a lot more than we paid. We currently have some very good players in our squad that were purchased not so long ago. We have looked at many different markets to recruit players that will improve our team at a price we can afford in terms of transfer fee and wages. It's is not a shit transfer policy IMO.

Sure, we have had some duds as well. Criticism can easily be leveled when things don't work out. That's easy to do. I try to understand why this happens.

So, in short, our transfer policy is really not a lot different from many other clubs. You have some hits, you have some duds. It has forever been this way.

Well said.

We're pals, so thankfully I know you don't mean anything by the above.

No one is "shouting into the void". We're Wolves fans, posting on a Wolves forum, expressing our opinions on the ongoing day to day running of the club - and in this particular thread - our transfer business, or lack of. This need to try and moderate/stifle opinions when they don't simply fall in line with the general consensus needs to stop.

You say "none of us apologies for the club", but that's not true, is it? The same circular arguments/debates come round every window from BOTH sides and more often than not, it's the same people that tend to fall on whichever side of the fence suits. It's just those who express dismay or concern on our activity and how we're ran get called "pantwetters" and told their opinions "achieve nothing" (as you have literally done above), and the people on the other side get to feel some warm sense of achievement in belittling the opinion of others. I don't get it.

No one expects you to say anything else. If you also think it's shit - that's cool! But don't get frustrated or annoyed when people respond to the stoic defence of the club and the decisions that the club has made when there is a tonne of evidence to the contrary. That's how a debate works - but everyone is different and expresses things in different ways.

If someone is concerned at our lack of business - or to offer a very specific example - believes we should have resolved the Nelson Semedo situation weeks ago - it doesn't make them any less of a fan and it doesn't make their opinion any less valid then the next. It's simply the situation being viewed differently. The reason the same circular debate keeps happening ad nauseam is because it's being debated BY BOTH SIDES. However, I only ever see one of those sides mocking the other, or being told their opinion "achieves nothing and isn't even helpful debate", which is a shame. We've been here countless times, so I wouldn't expect much to change.
I don't understand where this insinuation comes from that I'm trying to defend the club. I'm just resigned to the reality, and have been for about 6 transfer windows. I don't see the need to keep telling everyone else how shit it is when we all already know.

This is 100% the point I'm making! I didn't even realise there were two "sides" - who in their right mind thinks the club has been getting our transfer policy right over the past 6 windows?

Edit: I don't disagree with TSB's analysis, what I would say is the windows where we've signed good players by-and-large have been where the club has had to panic because of failures in the window prior eg the window in which we signed Cunha and the window in which we signed Agbadou.

This is the nature of a discussion forum. FWIW I'm on a Buffalo Bills forum reading posts from people also complaining about people complaining. I'm beginning to believe this is now the purpose of a forum.

Stop complaining about the complaining about complaining
