The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Is it the new thing for clubs to publicly consider bidding for a player.

Agent pressure to try and get Rodders more game time next season?

Porto have been throwing a lot of money around this summer, they've made some really impressive signings.

Not a new thing to leak interest to unsettle a player.

If Besiktas were banking on a European run to fund a swoop for Guedes, it looks like it’s over. 4-2 defeat at home to Shaktar Donetsk in the first leg of a 2nd round Europa League qualifier.

I like him but he got disproportionate praise on here and elsewhere last season, and I don't think he's a wing back in this league (and we don't currently play wingers)
He is quick, has an eye for goal, a good engine and excellent distribution. For some time I have seen him more as a number 10 than a wing back

If he can improve his decision making defensively he can be a top wing back. I love the way he springs onto a loose pass, similar to Jonny Otto in the way he can turn defence into attack. His pace is elite and he's really good at arriving into the box from wide as well, I don't think you want him inside where Vítor wants his 10s.

He's far too weak for me. Imagine him defending the back stick against someone like Welbeck or Delap.

He can improve that, he's obviously not perfect yet. It's not like he has a frame where he can never put muscle on or never learn how to use his body to defend against someone taller and stronger than him. I'd be seriously disappointed if we lost him in this window, especially considering how weak we are at wing back right now. We need to buy a player on both wings either way but however we buy I'd expect him to get significant game time.

He's a million miles ahead of Hugo Bueno who I am really worried about going into next season.

I haven't made up my mind on Rodrigo yet, but he's clearly a good footballer, and for that reason alone he's worth keeping around to develop. The way he manipulates the ball should mean he can move positions if he can't become a more well-rounded defender.

There would also be something poetic about going from Nélson to another wingback who couldn't dream of defending the back post.

I'd have Roddy around over the likes of KWP 100 times out of 100.

We’ve let Vitinha and Trincao go before they adjusted to the PL. I’d be very disappointed if we let Rodrigo go now as I think he’s got a good chance of developing into a really good player. I hope he gets plenty of game time and can nail down a position where he can excel.
