The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Its strange but no one sign Ratiu, is op player of Rayo. I think is a good nice to cover Semedo option, like El Hilali and Juanma.

Ratiu are experienced player, and its fast too(El Hiali are in the list too):

I guess I just believe that the club is trying to recruit the right sort of player and the evidence is they are given the signings we have made. For me, it isn't all about the first game v Man City or even the 4 or 5 games after that. Yes, we've been down this road before and we have the experience to know how to deal with a poor start. We need quality rather than signing mediocre players who will be abused the minute we find out they aren't what we need. It's a long season and a bit of patience now is needed IMO.

Are you happy to throw the first 4 or 5 games then?

Why should we be after mediocre players? Is it too much to expect our (very well paid) recruitment team to sign players that are the right fit without waiting until the last day of a several month long transfer window?

Sorry, but your post above is an absolute crock of shite.
 
I'm not happy with our squad by any means, but to say we're going to throw our first 4 or 5 games is a) over the top and b) somewhat disrespectful to the good players we do have and the work Vitor has done since he came in.

Man City will be tough to beat whether we have a new RWB or not, but there is no reason why we can't pick up results with our current squad in the following four games.

Both things can be true at the same time.
 
The inherent nonsense in the "it's not all about the first 4-5 games" statement is that a) we saw first hand last season and under Bellend Lage that getting off to an awful start will more often than not wreck your season and make it nothing more than a long grim fight against the drop and b) points in August count the same as those in December, March or May.

We should not be writing off fixtures against a ransacked Bournemouth, a threadbare Everton who didn't finish far above us last season or a Daniel Farke team regardless of who we do or don't sign, and that's three of our first five games.

Nightmare memories of the horror run in Nov 2014 when teams belatedly realised that the Channel of Doom between Batth and Doherty (when he was fat and way worse than he is now) existed.

Just ping any old ball down there and there's a chance you're in on goal inside 5 seconds.

Who said I was writing any game off? Some people are getting their knickers in a twist simply because we haven't signed enough players by the start of the season. Given that the season hasn't started yet and the window doesn't close for another 3 weeks, that's pant wetting of the highest order.

My point was that the first 4 or 5 games aren't as important as some people are making out. Yes, they are important but they aren't the be all and end all of a 38 game season. Seems that's a point that some posters can't accept. Day after day, week after week, month after month since the last season ended we've had serial pant wetters on here claiming we're doomed. We've heard it the last two or three seasons.

Heaven help those same posters in a real crisis. Have at it.

Plenty of people have been articulating in detail and with various levels of concern precisely why they're concerned, actually, and revising those concerns with new signings/links/news.

If anyone is beating a monotonous drum, then your name's on the list for sure
 
Funny how the message that early sales would enable us to bring in players in a timely manner coincided with a very short window for ST renewal.
Our owners are happy to circle the plughole until the inevitable happens at which point I suspect we’ll see parachute payments disappear in the same way the income from Neto and Kilman and now Cunha and RAN has.

Any competent recruitment would have found out long ago whether Sanchez was happy to join or not. They’re taking the piss and doing the bare minimum to try and eke out PL payments for another year.
 
We're currently one injury in each position away from fielding any or all of the following in a Premier League game:

Dan Bentley
Santi Bueno
Hugo Bueno

While Matt Doherty and Ki-Jana Hoever will both definitely start in 10 days' time as it stands, I actually don't know who would play in central midfield if one of our main pair were unavailable, and we have Sasa who hasn't kicked a ball since February 2024 as the sole back up to Strand Larsen.

It's a pretty poor state of affairs and you can see why people are itchy about it, and airily implying that it doesn't matter if we lose a load of games early on isn't the way to go.
