The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Bournemouth the main one.

Everton's issue is just very low numbers.

Palace expect to lose at least 1 of their 2 main players, definitely 2 if Arsenal push for Eze.

None of the above excuses our position mind but we are not totally adrift in that creek searching for a paddle
I don’t see a world where Palace let Eze go this season (unless he goes on strike) with their additional European games.

That world is if Arsenal stump up major cash for him. Will they I think they will, Martinelli and Trossard are fucking shit so Eze walks straight into that side and improves them.

I'd be surprised if Brentford weren't 'circling the drain' all season, especially when Wissa goes and with Andrews at the helm.

Once Bournemouth make the (apparently imminent) Diakite signing they'll have replaced their departing GK, LB and CB for about £66m. Obviously they could be significantly worse than those they're replacing, but if they hang on to Iraola I can see them putting up a decent fight still.

We're definitely cut off a bit in a bottom five with Brentford and the promoted clubs as it stands, IMO

On the subject of other teams, I think Sunderland will stay up. So we have to be better than two promoted teams and A N Other established side.

All three promoted clubs are still overwhelming favourites to go down, we're just above them with Brentford as things stand.

Don't be fooled by Sunderland buying 146 players this window, they had 10 on loan go back to thier parent clubs in the summer and they have had to maybe panic buy some of there players this summer. Maybe they will work maybe it won't. Who knows but a gamble on there part again.

Very much like Forest when they got promoted, built mainly on loan players and requiring a mad trolley dash to build a squad though Forest did manage to survive and progress

Both Leeds and Sunderland will grow momentum in their home fixtures if they perform there, far more than Leicester or Ipswich could - and that's my worry. I think Xhaka could be an excellent leader for Sunderland, far better than anything we have, we can't even decide who should be captain.

However, alternatively they can be toxic at those clubs too, but you'd imagine thats unlikely as they are surely realistic about their plight.

They've made some really good signings. If they gel, they are looking at a lower half finish.

Obviously Xhaka is a quality player and a coup for Sunderland- wouldd be happy if we signed him
Roefs gets into a Wolves side ahead of Sa IMV
I'm more than a little jealous of Diarra - that's exactly the kind of signing we should be making to strengthen midfield

Seems the level of player we’ve been looking at has a couple of options. Go to a European league team that are playing in European competition or come to the PL to a team not in Europe. They probably view both as a potential stepping stone to a move to a team challenging for the Champions League. As a team widely thought to be in the relegation debate we’re not exactly a shiny shop window on Oxford Street, more a basement shop in a declining shopping centre that is due to be demolished any time soon. Probably time to target players that will jump at the chance of coming to the PL, even if it might be a relegation battle.

Unfortunately, we're more likely to get a pool cue and a pencil as "one for the future".

Plan is to get a few players in and one day make a real push for 14th. You, Matthis, are just the beginning.

There are rumours that Daizen Maeda might be leaving Celtic with Brentford interested. I think he'd be perfect for Vítor's system personally.
