The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Who was that massive pole Saints paid for with a solid record? Tall Paul something. Bag o’ shite
Onuachu, signed from Genk too (where he scored 79 in 114). I wouldn't trust the scoring record of any striker playing in the Belgian first division to be even remotely recreated at Premier League level.

Any idea why this guy has played 89 minutes from the bench this season in 5 games when he was the league's top scorer last season and Genk have been rubbish? Seems to be behind a guy who scored 5 in 20 in the SPL for Celtic.

They have been expecting to sell him, allegedly.

I saw some glimpses of Onuachu for Southampton and he looked surprisingly skillful and a good player but seems like he spent a lot of time not really in favour so obviously wasn’t very good.

Still, this Tolu guy isn’t Hwang and that’s good enough for me.

I don't disagree but harsh to tarnish everyone with the same brush. He looks like he's improved hugely over the last couple of years and knows where the goal is. That's good enough for me, at the moment! Good age and still room to improve.

I would have thought the only way this happens now is if the player forces the issue. He's keen on moving (don't blame him for that) but no indication he will down tools at this point.

I wonder if this is because we've liked what we've seen from Sasa since he's come back from his injury but are still wary of exposing him to too much PL football.
It has to be something like that. I refuse to believe we will reach new levels of stupidity* and spend days say no to JSL going as we can't get a proper replacement to then let him go and take a gamble on this lad.

Vitor has said he wanted another forward. Hoping last night was the trigger for Vitor to say Hwang can go anywhere he wants, use the Fabio money to replace him.

*fully aware Jeff is more than capable of accepting this challenge.

Sasa wasnt even on the bench v Bournemouth though, which is confusing.

We needed a forward before the JSL stuff happened. Fabio money pays for this guy and gives Sasa a chance to get properly fit. I just hope to god we stand firm on Larsen and don’t give in

Youd have to assume sasa & Fabio were not in any plans for this season, and hwang would be very much a bit part player

Vitor literally said in his post-match presser that he wants Hwang to stay. He is staying, despite what we all think of him, and the sooner people realise this, the better!

We have needed another striker/competition for JSL since the window opened. Because we're now being linked to one, doesn't especially mean JSL is off - although this is how people will see it.

Managers say stupid things all the time...

Don't blame him going at all. Bigger crowds, better players, more money, better chance of European football.
This and the way he scored that first goal, (shit camera work notwithstanding) the aplomb with which he buried that with power and accuracy, whilst falling backwards.... not sure anyone else on the team would have managed that.
