The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

What do you mean?
He has a lot to gain from this. Pay rise, CL football, bigger club, ambitious club, chance of a trophy, pretty much everything. Ratheus MKI we were probaby counting our lucky stars that someone was willing to not only give us our money back but a profit on a dreadful footballer who was going to be a massive drain on our resources, even bigger than Guedes was.

Ratheus MKII downed tools for absolutely no reason just so we'd give him a big bonus and pay rise with release clause for 6 months later when we werent going to stand in his way anyway.

As ever, it’s only right for him that he jumps at the chance. If he slows down this season for us, he may never get an opportunity like it again.

What’s annoying is that Newcastle are upping the stakes in the way that we could/should be.

If he has a slow season for Newcastle he's in the same boat, but I suppose it's a much wealthier boat and he'd be in it for longer.

There aren't really any downsides from his point of view for forcing a move to Newcastle, apart from his own morals

Not sure why so many people are so understanding and concerned about his ambitions and opportunities, and so quick to justify such a lack of commitment.

Are you Wolves fans or his agent?

I think the general trend of mercenaries winning in football over the past couple of decades has jaded a lot of people into accepting that loyalty just isn't what it used to be.

Not for me. They're clearly desperate if they're having £60M+ bids for Strand Larsen rejected.

If we get 2 more in and keep Larsen without any kind of massive fall out we'll have had a much better transfer window than them all things considered.

Who the fuck does JSL think he is? Wolves are the greatest club in the world and he's lucky to play for us. Wanker

Don't you have a better counter argument rather than going to a extreme that completely misrepresents the point I'm making?

For me - just an acceptance that this football now. Loyalty/commitment is rarer than Deutsch giving Doc a MOTM shout.

There's a tipping point for me, and looking for an out after 12 months when he knows it would fuck us over is pretty close to it.

Even the Matheus's wanted out to clubs that are either genuinely huge or winning everything.

Of course he hasn't done it yet

It doesn't matter what any of us think really.

But there's a difference between accepting it and justifying/legitimising it...like fuck am I doing that, others can do what they like

I will also look for reasoning on anything, just how I am.
Just me controlling shit in my head.

Not really, I called out whether his morals would allow him to do it or not which is the same point youre making.

Commitment these days is the exception rather than the rule, the only time it's a thing is when fans are being exploited.

The transfer game is a weird one. Fabio goes to Dortmund for €26M and now Brentford want one of their other (assumingly better) strikers for €70M. Here I thought the Bees were a buy low/sell high club.

Ive explicitly said 'downing tools' would be not be right, and i dont think anyone else has suggested otherwise. He's allowed to say 'id like to join newcastle if the opportunity arises' whilst also still being commmited here if the opportunity doesnt develop. Saying 'I dont want to join newcatle' would be stupid and make no sense.

I dont really know what point youre arguing tbh.

When Moutinho signed for the club he said that he'd come here to help the club win trophies.

The fact that never happened is neither here nor there, it's the ambition that matters and the club provided a platform for Moutinho to evidence that ambition, FA Cup semi, Europa League last 8, two 7th places in the Premier League.

Since Fosun have owned the club my season ticket has more than doubled. That was fine as I was told that was the price for backing the ambition of the club and the showcasing of players of Moutinho's standing.

Now I've got Bellegarde and Munetsi... consistent downgrades across the park, and people consistently pass this off and seek to justify players moving on.

I just don't get it...paying a premium price for a substandard product and people justifying it as that's just the way it is...😐

I don’t necessarily disagree that they’re desperate, but it says something that they’re going about it urgently in August and not January.
