The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Ive explicitly said 'downing tools' would be not be right, and i dont think anyone else has suggested otherwise. He's allowed to say 'id like to join newcastle if the opportunity arises' whilst also still being commmited here if the opportunity doesnt develop. Saying 'I dont want to join newcatle' would be stupid and make no sense.

I dont really know what point youre arguing tbh.

Basher explains it well enough above.

I wasn't actually thinking about your posts, but multiple people come out with stuff like (quoting Alan on this page) "it’s only right for him that he jumps at the chance. If he slows down this season for us, he may never get an opportunity like it again.", like they're the player's dad or something!

And as for saying whether or not he wants to join Newcastle, he doesn't have to say/leak anything at all, same as most managers don't when talking about other club's players

If the Saudi league has taught us nothing else, it should be that a lot of players (And I include English/British ones) aren't that interested in the badge they are kissing or in the Premier League for the glory and prestige of the teams.

The best players used to flock to Serie A in the 90s boom, if we had a similar end to the finances and were no longer the best paying league (as Saudi has now shown) then plenty of talent would leave the Prem as quickly as possible to wherever they were getting better contracts.

I agree….but who can blame the players?
If I could set myself up for life by pissing around in the sun for 24 months, then I would do it without thinking.

You don’t need to be his dad to understand why it’s an opportunity he would want to take.

Just because I think he should jump at the chance from a personal perspective doesn’t mean I want him gone, just that there’s nothing about it I can justifiably hold against him.

There's a tipping point for me, and looking for an out after 12 months when he knows it would fuck us over is pretty close to it.
Agreed. It's not a great look that a player who literally signed a contract with us a couple of months ago and was happy to take it, now wants to leave - no matter how "politely" he may have asked. It's a concerning trend that we really struggle to keep hold of players and that the players (apart from the shit ones) aren't committed to the club.

And yes, I'm aware it's a great opportunity for him to go to Newcastle United, but he doesn't come across as stupid. He'll know what the consequences of him leaving now would have on Wolves. You signed a contract so show some commitment to that. It can be done without us expecting him to stay here as long as Bully did.

We just need to hope he doesn't throw his toys out the pram until January. He doesn't seem the type to do that, but that's the obvious concern.

If he was a year into a four year contract and had exceeded all expectations I’d have a some sympathy for his stance but he’s three competitive games into a five year contract. He could have asked for a £60m release clause in it and we’d probably have chuckled and said of course you can. We should not be selling him unless VP believes he can use the money to get better players in before the window closes which seems highly unlikely. If he performs like a £60m player this year he might have grounds to renegotiate his contract, in the meantime whilst his short term future is in our hands his long term future is in his.

Zero blame from me, it's why I wouldn't even bother to boo Nunes, not with any conviction at least. We are disgruntled at them when they want to leave, we are also disgruntled at them when we want them to leave, we sometimes get annoyed when some of them play, and annoyed at others still even when they don't play! Some; we don't even like being on the bench.

Each to their own, but I'm not interested in understanding player's opportunities away from my club, I'm interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers and what's best for them

That prick basically went on strike after months of nothing/dreadful performances.

I'm delighted he's drifted into a career of being a well-remunerated Richard Edghill, he is a wanker.

I’m delighted too, total wanker.

Didn’t think it could be possible, but he’s actually been worse for City than he was for us.

He’ll be at West Ham next year.

Listened to Keen and Judah on the podcast. It was discussed about JSL possibly refusing to play.

They reiterated he is a good guy and all that, but sounds like there's pressure from Newcastle/agents for this deal to happen and they compared it to Nunes in the sense that this opportunity may never come around again for Larsen.

They (rightly) weren't buying Jeff's 'not for sale no matter what' stance and expect it to rumble on.

Basher explains it well enough above.
From what I can see is Basher is unhappy that the club is showing no ambition. Yeah we all are, so then surely that means it’s pretty obvious why players may want to go somewhere who is? It’s pretty easy for them to move, sadly we can’t, although I am losing interest (again so what does that say!?).

And what Alan says isn’t incorrect is it? You may not like that way of thinking, but it could very much be the case.

He hasn’t publicly said anything though has he? Were using twitter as the truth. It could a) be bullshit b) be leaked by any fucker or c) his agent. But let’s be realistic here, it’s from his agent. But his agent doesn’t give a fuck about Strand Larsen, Newcastle or Wolves, he only cares about his bank balance. How does he improve that, gets him a big move. “Jorgen, Newcastle will triple your wages, 5 year deal, you interested” “yeah”, and there we go. If you’re expecting him to say no because he’s only been here a year then your living in cloud cuckoo land. Is there a single reason outside “loyalty” he should quash the rumours? Worst case for him is flirting with Newcastle gives him tools for a pay rise here (and his agent gets a cut).

I think you have unrealistic expectations

Kinda makes you wonder if JSL asked to leave in the first place.

Fuckin Mendes... said it before but it's nothing short of pathetic that the club is still tied to that wanker, pivoting back to him again and again.

All because the ownership haven't a fuckin clue and in near 10 years have failed to put anything remotely resembling a decent structure in place.
