The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

That made me laugh, sorry :D So you think Lopez is unlikely to start all season but you questioned why I said that? Anyway, he is our second biggest outlay. I think that's poor considering we are crying out for quality to improve the XI now, even if I am encouraged by what I've seen. But it links back to the budget, if you're restricted, I don't think you spend so much on a project player when the team is so bad.

It's early days but I haven't seen Arias as a quick forward who can dribble with the ball. I haven't seen much at all sadly.

I have seen Krejci play a few times and I don't think he's great. Doesn't mean my opinion is right but I think we have overpaid for someone who doesn't have the pedigree to suggest he is an upgrade on what we have.

And, yes I do feel Tolu and Larsen have too many similarities from seeing how he plays. I don't think they will work as a partnership, and I'd have preferred a different type of forward if we could only bring one in.
Careful. Don’t question Mr. Superfan. He is a fountain of football knowledge and the rest of us should merely bow down to his superior knowledge and agree with his opinion. If you don’t, you’re a pantwetter or a petulant child, I’m afraid.

Also, I find it unfathomable that you might have actually seen Krejci play before and that you’ve formed your own opinion on him. You should probably just agree with Lycan and keep quiet.

(In case the sarcasm of this post is lost in translation, I agree with your assessment. I also think people are going overboard on the Lopez performance at the weekend. He looked quite good and was certainly better than who he replaced, but he’s also hugely one footed and with a bit more exposure, it won’t be long before teams work out that he cuts inside to his left 9 times out of 10. I felt Everton actually started to work this out themselves before the end of the match! But there’s something to work with there for sure. To also add some more balance, I feel people have been over critical of Jackson. He’s a bit raw, but I think there’s definitely something to work with there, if we can learn to pass the ball in front of him to get the most out of his pace he’ll be quite useful)

Sky reporting there will be no other incomings other than Tolu today.

Let’s hope they’re wrong, eh?

The most likely outcome was always this. We'll be in contact with free agent Brownhill for a few days this week once the window is closed and then he'll go to Saudi

If that’s true I wonder if this is what we are going after

Sa
Mosquera Agbadou Krejci
Tchatchoua Gomes Andre Wolfe
Arias
Tolu JSL

Worries me if it’s a late switch to this however. And still some obvious issues in the line up/squad.

CM is criminally undersubscribed and it worries me that VP is genuinely thinking JRB is a good enough back up option in that role.
The line up and formation @YoungWolf has posted is still going down.

Even on the assumption that all of the signings are good players that improve us (hope springs eternal, I suppose), we're horrendously understocked in midfield. We've replaced Traore and Doyle with no one at all.

God help us if Andre or Gomes are out, never mind both.

Nuno made a similar change in the first Premier League season i think didn't he? It shouldn't be a big ask for professionals to be able to sort this out
