The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Will be interesting to watch what Cunha does . Depends on what other clubs are interested . Perhaps he doesn't have that many clubs who are interested and willing to pay our fee - his discipline issues are definitely a problem I think . He'll get away with it at Wolves , but not at a bigger club .

His discipline issues are overblown but they're definitely in the consciousness of fans now, I've had numerous Man U fans I know parrot them, when I bet they couldn't pick him out of a line up this time last year

I would suggest there isn't a queue of clubs willing to pay the £62.5m for him.

Arsenal probably would have joined Utd but their new SD pulled them away from the signing.

According to the Guardian, United have a £100m war chest due to sacking all the general staff so they will be able to conclude the Cunha signing.

This season we have a squad with 23 registered players (not counting U21s). The full 17 foreign players allowed, and 6 HG players.

Ultimately the amount of HG players is irrelevant. Staying within the 17 FGN player limit is always the tricky bit.

Squad (*Home Grown)

1 Ait-Nouri, Rayan
2 Bellegarde, Jeanricner
3 Bentley, Daniel*
4 Semedo, Nelson
5 Nasser Djiga
6 Dawson, Craig*
7 Doherty, Matthew*
8 Doyle, Thomas*

9 Guedes, Goncalo
10 Gomes, Toti
11 Gomes, Joao
12 Hwang, Hee-Chan
13 Bueno, Santiago
14 Johnstone, Samuel*
15 King, Thomas*

16 Larsen, Jorgen Strand
17 Marshall Munetsi
18 Sa, Jose
19 Mosquera, Yerson
20 Cunha, Matheus
21 Sarabia, Pablo
22 Traore, Boubacar
23 Neto, Andre

Cunha and Semedo look likely to go. If we can move on Sarabia and Guedes then that gives us 4 FGN spaces to play with. Add an extra one if RAN leaves. So we shouldn't be in any danger of the limit really. Especially if we're looking mainly at players under the age of 21 who don't count towards the registration.

Of course if we decide to register Sasa Kalajdzic next season now he's fit again (he scored in a behind closed doors friendly last week) then that will take a space up. But maybe we'll look to move him on instead because of his injury record.

Forbs has just turned 21 in March but IIRC he counts as HG due to his time at Man City. So we can probably extend his loan if we want. Unlikey but you never know if we are losing attacking players. His loan deal expires 29/6/2025 and I don't think we've met the conditions to be obligated to buy him, and I doubt he'd be keen to stay anyway without some promises of playing time.

Out of the rest of the U21s there's only Meupiyou and Gonzalez who have any realistic chance of breaking into the first team and they will both still be under 21 when the deadline for registration happens after the summer window closes. Mane is only 17.

Sarabia is out of contract so will go. I’ve as much chance of starting in a forward position next season than Forbs.

Santi Bueno should definitely be moved on. Djiga out on loan if he can't be trusted in the first team yet.

Then Boubacar Traoré. No idea what's happening with him really, I keep forgetting he's still here. Is he injured again or does Vítor just not fancy him? Definitely a lot of potential there but very injury prone and there was interest in him from German teams before his injuy in the Carabao earlier this season.

Hugo Bueno & Ki-Jana Hoever both count as homegrown if they come back (one of those more likely than the other obviously).

Lots of wiggle room there, not sure it's going to be much of an issue really unless every player we sign in the summer is non homegrown.

We should definitely try to have more homegrown players if we can though. Definitely a bit of a failure of recruitment if we can't find a good core of English players to build around, there are enough decent ones out there.

Seems to be in the same category as Doyle.
Vitor thinks he is ok but not suitable for his style of play

Sometimes when I hear him referred to I think we're talking Adama for a split second until I remember Boubacar
