The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

One good thing is that this all seems to be happening very early on, should give us all summer to repair the damage

Nope, refuse him his move and don't sell him. We're not Accounts FC and this isn't fantasy football after all.

Massive pay rise, challenging for the Premier League title every season, playing with World class players and getting Champions League football?

Yeah why on Earth would he want to go there? 🙄
I think PK was taking the piss.

Anything in the region of £40m and he’ll go.

I love RAN, but he’s done his time here. I do think his attacking output is being weirdly overlooked by some.

I must admit I find him frustrating to watch as often as he can be exhilarating, so I'm not that invested in him staying.

The key is to factor his missing goal contributions into how we play next season and, most importantly, our recruitment.

Especially as (as has been pointed out), our current RWB and centre mids don't have that in their locker

Not sure about the bold, I'd have said it's his attacking output that people talk about, as his defending and concentration are his biggest question marks.

Any fee for RAN is complicated by the clause in the terms of the deal that Wolves signed him on, as far as I know that's still in place?

I'd rather not have to be replacing both wingbacks this summer... along with the rest of the work that'll be required... but I guess that's where we're going?

Agree. I'd also say that Aït-Nouri has been quite a hard player to love. He hasn't formed any kind of attachment to the fans at all. He clearly isn't interested in that side of it which is fair enough but it does make him leaving a little easier to take.

I think the fact that we basically need to build an entire forward line in the summer means that we've got plenty of opportunities to replace RAN and Cunha's goal contributions in the aggregate, even if there's a very slim chance of getting any individual player that's as good as them. We're losing some good players but there's hopefully a lot of shite being replaced as well.

Hugo Bueno has seemingly had a good season so there's a possibility he could step in for RAN. But based on how he played when he was last here it's a big question mark.
I think it's incredibly optimistic to think that Bueno, Lima and R Gomes will be good enough for 20+ games each next season. (I know you're not saying that here DW)

Obviously RAN cost us a goal yesterday, but I think he's a player we'll appreciate a lot more once he's gone. He gets us up the pitch, he drags 2 or 3 players to him, he restricts right full backs attacking us, he is a consistent out ball for Toti and he's been involved in 11 goals this season! I think we will really miss him.

H Bueno, R Gomes and Lima are all good young players (although the latter seems to have stalled), but relying on just them for two such pivotal roles looks a big ask at the moment.

I would be surprised if we replaced NS and RAN with two senior players, so I reckon we'll have 4 of them for the 2 roles with 1 new guy coming in as a decent level signing?

Maybe it's just me, but I'd see Rodrigo less as a RAN replacement and more as an attacker in the front 3. I just don't think his defending is that good, but his pace, his crossing, and his finishing are all good and he has potential to develop a lot. For me he's more like Neto than RAN.

Yeah... going into next season with Rodrigo Gomes, Lima, and Hugo Bueno as your wingbacks/fullbacks would be extreme folly.

I'm already looking forward to the media puff piece from Hobbs and Shi lecturing that it is all part of their grand plan!
