The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I was sort of hoping that it would come out in the wash that City had agreed to cover the 9 million (or whatever it is) we owe Angers & that’s why the fee is so low. But nope, it just looks a shit deal on our part.
Just be happy we cleared the 9m before the deal was finalised and no5 be in a situation where we realised we now had to give Angers 50% of the fee.

Wolves don't appear to have even tested the market for RAN, see if there were other clubs interested?

They've just accepted City's bid and that's it.

Poor business all round.
Could suggest that our public offer a month ago for a new contract indicated we had interested clubs and only City were prepared to pay up or City was the only club RAN wanted to move to.
He binned Jorge to help get his move.

It all feels very weak on our side but we don't know what has happened behind the scenes with the player.

This may be a factor. While RAN hasn't been one to kick up a big fuss, there have clearly been times when he has not been entirely happy here. Maybe there has been something said which has meant accepting a lower than market value bid was necessary?

If Palermo is a city group club maybe we’ll get that pink kit everyone wants

It’s been quoted that he was close to joining City in the last window?

Maybe we cut a deal with them that they could have him cheaper if we could hold onto him in our relegation fight?

And Hobbs has cut another shit deal line the appalling one we cut with Cunha - where we basically allowed him to hold us to ransom, even though he had two years left on his existing deal.

We’ve previously done alright with the bigger money moves and got decent fees (Jota, Neves, Neto, Nunes) so there must be more to this one.

As always, we’re all left guessing - none of us know the finer details.

He’s under contract for 2 years and it’s the first week of June. It doesn’t matter what’s happened behind the scenes.

There’s only one team playing football in the next 2 months and that’s City. There’s another 3 months of “chucking toys out the pram” before we as the sellers get desperate. Actually we don’t get desperate at all as we’ve already sold someone for £60m! We hold all the Aces and we’ve folded before the flop.

Madrid have paid £10m for absolutely no reason yet we’ve given him away £10m cheap for absolutely no reason.

I guess one unlikely scenario could be that RAN has said I'm never playing for wolves again so our hand was forced somewhat

It does matter though. If something was agreed with the player, then it's been honoured.
Let's chuck in Vitor and his "you don't want to be here, piss off" he isn't going to accept a sulky RAN around the place until the end of August.

Madrid paid £10m because they want a player for the club cup bollocks. Without that they don't get him until July, so it's not for nothing (they will get that money back somehow from FIFA).

Its a shit fee and should £45m min, but it isn't and we can get all amateur sporting director about it but we don't actually know the details of anything other than the fee.
End result though we have lost a key player but one that no longer wanted to play for us.

Now have to hope the near £100m is burning a hole in Vitors pocket and we get this TD confirmed and get active in the buying market quickly.
