The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

It's Spain tbf; without knowing a damn thing about any of the kids they've called in, not hard to believe that the standard is just extraordinarily high for their U21s relative to others.

You know, if you want to be optimistic. Which we'd probably be justified in not wanting to be.

Yeremay play in second división, and its trash. They call it to play in sub-21, but its injured.

The Spanish Squad are plagued of bench players, have a lot main player of the league dont are on that spanish squad. Most player are subs of Madrid-Barcelona-Athletic-Atletico.

And Santi Denia, are another unexperienced coach, of atletico have free to train in all category of Spain squad. And have a lot coach better than he like the Celta Coach, he use all squad during that last league in europe.

Nah; it's a perfectly fair expectation that a £10m signing for a club like us, made at a desperate time for a problem position has some miniscule impact, especially when the sporting director says he's a player 'for now'.
Your mistake was having some belief that our former sporting director had a fucking clue.

His release clause was rumoured to be €40m so we've got him for €12m less than that.

We're citing Hobbs now?

£10m isn't that much in 2025, and I'm still on the soapbox that putting a "hit the ground running" expectation on any player coming into the PL from almost any other league in the world is IMO choosing not to grapple with the realities of life and football off the pitch as well as on it. The step up to the Prem shouldn't just be ignored.

But we needed a CH in January in addition to Agba. All they had to do was be better than Santiago Hindmarch or a 33 year old Matt Doherty who has never been able to defend and had never played at CH in his entire career until six months ago.

He patently isn't, not right now anyway, so it was a crap signing and we got away with it.

He's turned out not to be what we needed at the time, true, but people talked as if they were writing him off entirely, and that's completely unfair to him as a player after six months in new league etc etc etc.

If there's any negativity it should be solely at Hobbs, not Nasser, at least not at this early stage of his time here.

I don't know anything about him, he's been a Wolves player for nearly 5 months and I've literally never watched him play.

Not a good sign to be definitively behind that pair though, Vitor brought Slo-Mo Santi on ahead of him when we were 3-0 up at home to an abject Leicester team with 10 minutes to go.

Was a Hobbs special...Vitor flipped our No1 target to Agba, decided job was done...then right at the death we find out tiny Danso is available, go all in...fail...then make late decision to buy for the future.
Sums up the mixed up thinking over the last few years.

I don't mind Doherty being around the squad if he can keep up his performances under Vítor but ideally going into next season we need to be signing a left sided player to compete with (improve on) Toti, get rid of Santi and loan Djiga.

It's too early to be writing off Nasser but he's clearly not up to scratch at this level yet and we're not in a position where we can let him do his learning on the pitch with Wolves. I think his pathway to hopefully being a first team Wolves player has to be similar to Yerson Mosquera's, a loan to get consistent game time and then another at a higher level.

Santi is absolutely shite. We need to be doing whatever we can to limit our losses on that deal because I can't see anyone offering close to what we paid.

Pop a return to sender label on him and leave him in the Girona dressing room in July?

Djiga is only 18 months younger than Mosquera, we signed Yerson four years ago. I know what you're saying but he isn't particularly one for development.

Joleon Lescott had played about 170 games for Wolves when he was Djiga's age and that was with an entire season out too.
