The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Can I just add (given that I was the person to lose patience yesterday) that I've never had any real interaction with EP and I don't make a habit of getting into spats on here. I was simply expressing frustration at the circular and tedious "arguments" that were filling the transfer thread (which I wasn't party to), meaning pages upon pages of irrelevance building up.

As I accepted yesterday, there is a vacuum due to the lack of transfer activity, but we go through this issue every single transfer window, and my patience was tested by the nature of the posting about Semedo which seemed deliberately circular and obtuse (and pedantic in the extreme), and none of which had anything to do with transfers.
The audacity of you!

People are going to feel different ways; personally I think it’s a feature rather than a bug, but eye of the beholder, etc.

I genuinely hope your post (and indeed Bear's) isn't aimed at me among others. I responded a lot to EP last night, but I thought in an entirely civil fashion and we had quite an interesting debate about why he thought the lack of a captain was a serious issue from Nelson being an unknown, while I explained my point of view as to how I feel it will end up being solved naturally as the squad has to inevitably evolve over the summer (let's face it, if it doesn't we are somewhat fucked).

If that was a derailment in the eyes of others I will hold my hands up, but I genuinely thought he and I were having a healthy discussion about it. On that point I didn't really care about the poster. I thought the point was an interesting one to debate and so I did.
It certainly wasn't aimed at you.

This account saying we've agreed a deal for Wallace Yan (Yam) from Flamengo
If true, is this more evidence of managed decline from Fosun? ie - selling a regular, full international Brazilian to then recruit one without a cap to his name (and let’s be honest - one without very little senior football experience at all).

I get he might be an exciting prospect (I actually don’t know), and he might not be viewed as a direct Cunha replacement by people within the club, but I don’t see us splashing much cash for a big name replacement either, so is this where we find ourselves now?

No, I don't think so. We were never going to go out and sign someone that's on the same level as Cunha were we? We're always going to be after players 'on the way up' and there's no problem with that at all.

Let's just wait and see if this gets picked up by any local reporters first.

If you were expecting a like-for-like replacement for Cunha you clearly have unrealistic expectations. We haven’t done that since the summer after promotion.

Last rumour I saw is that Flamengo won't accept any less than €15m for Yan.

Hang on, somethings got lost in translation here. I know we’re not going to replace Cunha “like for like”. This lad has less than 20 senior appearances to his name, though…

Flamengo fans seem to be losing their shit over it which is a good sign. I don't think we're going to be able to make any kind of judgement on his quality until we see him play really.

I don't think this will be the only forward player we sign btw, personally I still expect Hwang & Guedes to leave. That would leave us with Strand Larsen, Munetsi, Bellegarde, Mané, López and potentially this geezer. Even if Munetsi & Bellegarde are viewed as forwards and not midfielders that still leaves us short.
